The top 50 players in the world aren’t playing more now. They are just playing separately more. Objective facts
And I get that is what casual fans care about. There are a lot more than 50 golfers.

Let’s make it simple
4 man tour
That’s 288 holes of golf you watched
They split and it’s 2 on one tour and 2 on the other. You are still watching only 288 homes of golf……

I get it to an extent. Like, there are weeks when the Irish Open is on in the morning and it's followed by a PGA Tour event in the afternoon and it's a good day of golf.
But in general, the best tournaments (excluding Ryder/Pres cup) are the majors, the Players, RIV and Waste Management, etc. where you know you're going to have the majority of the best players in the World at a time you can watch them play at venues you know, with a good environment.
But really, it's more like wishing Jon Rahm instead of playing in the Open went to play in the Barracuda instead for an opposite field event to make that field better. It's absurd.

Jason Day said everyone has their price. Stay tuned for LIV and Mr. Day.
Johnson Wagner told the GC that the PGA needs new leadership and Monahan must go. The PGA is in chaos. Now we're getting somewhere.

No, he's going to spend a handful of weekends a year watching all 4 rounds of a PGA event and 3 rounds of a LIV event. He goes to the Byron nelson every year. He's super serious about watching golf.
(Reality: he has golf on as white noise while working on Thursday and Friday, watches highlights of LIV on youtube, and watches maybe 2-3 hours of live golf coverage on Sat and Sunday like everyone else "who loves golf" does.)
People who cover the sport for a living don't watch as much golf as he's claiming to watch

As the sports landscape keeps changing, I always thought golf would be the safe haven since it's a sport so ingrained in tradition. Money talks though, the PGA really didn't have a play against LIV when it comes down to dollars and cents. If you're desperate to hold onto what you have, you'll do some things that people will think are questionable.
I love the majors, but I also like the week to week tournaments as well. Some are dogs with little appeal but there are still plenty that have great courses and good fields and now that is going to start dwindling.
I love golf, but I'm not staying up late or getting up crazy early to watch it. It's not a "I hate LIV" thing, it's just a matter of schedule and routine. This whole thing reminds me of the IRL/CART debacle in Indy Car back in the 90's.

Let’s. I watch 4 rounds of PGA tour each week. Some weeks I ALSO watch rounds of LIV. It’s pretty simple.

Is that the most important thing to LIV Golf? I don’t think so
The most important thing to LIV is to legitimize Saudi Arabia... nothing else.

Arguing LIV isn’t for the casuals while they shotgun start with the Chainsmokers performing on the fourth tee is a hilarious argument to make

I never said LIV isn’t for casual fans. I said fans that only care about the top 50 golfers are likely casual fans. If you have to lie to make your point…

So that's the reason you're happy Rahm is going to LIV? Not because it helps you watch more of him play golf, but because it means other people are upset about it?
Sadly in this extremely black and white political climate we've been living in since 2016, a lot of people are willing to sacrifice their own entertainment values as long as it pisses off a faction of people that they perceive as "the enemy".
It's really sad.

Man. Yall love to assign values and motivation to me. It’s really strange. I’ve stated I like the option of watching more golf. I cannot make it any more clear. Not sure why that’s hard to grasp.

Whatever you say, champ.
Keep fighting the good fight.

In my view, I believe so. I enjoyed watching non-major PGA TOUR tournaments when the fields included most if not all of the top players. Now, maybe half of those top players aren't playing those tournaments and play LIV instead...
I'm not sure exactly where to watch LIV, and I don't know much about the team format. I liked professional golf better as it was before LIV entered the picture...
Regardless, good on Phil and the rest of the players who exposed the PGA TOUR's business practices and secured the bag...

Good on them for securing the bag, I will never hate on someone for getting more money.
But lets not act like Phil was doing some altruistic thing and was motivated to shine the light on the underbelly of the PGA. He just had a shite ton of gambling debt and LIV gave him the easiest of outs.

Spot on. The PGA is under a hostile takeover by an organization that has way more resources and doesn't care about any ROI.

Sadly I think this is why most people like LIV. They like watching drama unfold off the course (and like drama in other aspects of life, more than likely), not the actual product of LIV or what the LIV/PGA tour beef has done to the actual sport.
On the player's side, this is 100% about money. Not our money, but their money. They're already rich. How much money they make does nothing for me. I just like watching them play golf. The initial beef was, likewise, about money. Not growing the game like Greg Norman loves to say over and over but money. People arguing about money and tearing down North American sports leagues is not something that benefits the fans. Any fan of golf in this continent being excited about what is happening either doesn't actually like watching the sport, is lying, or simply is drawn to drama.

Yall love assigning qualities and motivation to other people. It’s really really strange.
