The delusion is strong in this ignoramus. You soccertards really need to euthanize yourselves. Then again, if the 5 of you off yourself, that'll take out half of Messi's fanbase.

Their world revolves around their crappy sport. They don't know shite outside of it. Let's leave these tards to their fate.

so it's possible for a star in the U.S. to be the most popular athlete in the world. For a while it was Jordan, and that was back when basketball is a tenth of the popularity that it is now worldwide.

Not sure Jordan was ever the undisputed most popular athlete in the world? Was he really more popular than Mike Tyson, David Beckham, Zidane and Wayne Gretzky?

You're getting to the point where you are trying to be funny, but continue to show your ignorance. Grow up and say something intelligent.

Fact: World Cup is broadcasted all over the world.

Fact: La Liga is broadcasted all over the world, heavily in Spanish speaking countries. China is one of the largest bases of La Liga fans in the world, too. (Just because it's not on ABC or NBC doesn't mean the world doesn't get it.)

Yes. Ali and Jordan are on the Mount Rushmore of the most famous former athletes in the world. Then again, Gretzky would probably be right up there with them.

there was a time where michael jordan might have been the most popular PERSON in the world.

him or michael jackson.

n China, Bryant may be the most beloved American athlete of all time.

At the 2010 Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese people welcomed Bryant with more fervor than any other American athlete.

Bryant starred in a reality series in China a few years ago called "Kobe's Disciples." The show brought 24 Chinese youths to the United States where Bryant helped teach them about basketball.

In 2009, the Asia Society honored the Laker for being a "cultural ambassador."

Bryant's emergence as a star in China is no accident.

Nike brand president Charlie Denson says Bryant has made it a point to visit China multiple times with the purpose of building his brand. Reports surfaced during the NBA lockout that Bryant was considering playing in China this season.

Interesting list. The Chinese Super League is making a big move to become the dominant league in East Asia, bringing in lots of big names in the denouement of their career. FIFA is obsessed with the Chinese market, and is doing what they can to help promote the sport. Also interesting to note that the 2004 AFC Final was the largest single event sports audience in China's history. I think there is more than enough room for both sports to develop concurrently in the country, though.

Correction: The sports world revolves around "our sport". (I also am a huge college sports fan, just like most of these SB posters.)

By your admission, it is the world's most popular sport.

That's why asinine comments like "kill yourself and Messi's fan base will be cut in half" just shows how little you really know.

Also, please answer my Bolt and WNBA questions. I'll be back for the answers sometime later. Got more important things to do than argue with a retard.

Take care, Cock.

Chinese people love basketball but they love soccer too. Those are not mutually exclusive. Y'all are basing it off of China when I'd say it's more of an even split over there than anything.

If China ever got a soccer star, they'd be all over his team. In the mean time, they are huge fans of the big clubs i.e. Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

This summer alone, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Juventus, and Napoli went on pre-season tours in China.

Arsenal is working to set up a co-op with the Chinese government to start up academies in their major cities.

If anything, the popularity between basketball and soccer in China is a push.

No one should (and I don't think that anyone is trying to) dispute that basketball is really, really popular in China.

Shockingly, however, soccer is also really, really popular in Asia.

It's Ronaldo.

We're not talking about endorsement money or what you know (which is not much). Every other soccer person in here has said Ronaldo or Messi. Go after them, I've gotta run.

Buh-bye.
