Haven't claimed to know everything. You really are clueless. You don't read. You don't make sense. You back up anything you say with pure opinion.
One day you'll realize that the world is not just what you can find on the TV in SC.

I know plenty of women who don't know the difference between a basketball and a tennis racket but know they want to frick Cristiano Ronaldo.

Dec 2011 article after Tebow's run.
DBI Celebrity Index.
DBI Celebrity Index.
quote:
Regarding Trust, Tebow has moved into the top 75 of the DBI Index, which puts him in the same neighborhood as Tony Dungy, Harrison Ford and Mike Krzyzewski. He's ranked 1,050 in awareness, which means he's known by 55 percent of U.S. consumers, according to the DBI. That puts him in the same range as Randy Moss, Steve Young, Sugar Ray Leonard, Phil Jackson and Tony Stewart. (Among current athletes, Tiger Woods ranks No. 1 in awareness followed by Venus Williams, Michael Phelps, Kobe Bryant, Serena Williams, Manning and Michael Vick.)
Delzell said he finds the breakthrough category an interesting metric in relation to television because it can portend upcoming trends. "When you consider the amount of messaging that a human being encounters on a day to day basis, what you really want to find out is who stands out in the crowd," Delzell said. "Who makes an impact? Who do people pay attention to?"
Interestingly, Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi ranks first among current athletes in the breakthrough metric. Tebow sits at No. 260, well behind Drew Brees (No. 3 among current athletes), Manning (No. 4), Aaron Rodgers (5), Troy Polamalu (7), Sidney Crosby (11), Josh Hamilton (14) and Dirk Nowitzki (15).

Fellas this is what happens when humans breed with dogs. Severe mental retardation is a compliment in this one's case.

Stopped reading right there. We're talking about THE WORLD.
I'm outta here. This shows what kind of people we are dealing with. Too America-centric to answer the question correctly.

You still haven't addressed the fact that Tiger Woods makes more in worldwide endorsements than both both Messi and Ronaldo COMBINED.
Link again: Still owning your ignorant arse.

Or TV numbers, obviously.
TV numbers are huge because of the rarity of the games.
We've been over this.
Lebron plays 3-4 games in a week, most of the time on cable TV. It could be argued that his exposure is more widespread.

I did answer that. You're the one who doesn't answer my questions (WNBA attendance, Bolt, etc.)

Endorsements =/= Popularity
The kid in Africa (or South America or the Middle East) has no idea what Buick is.
Sure Tiger gets more money (or did) from a bunch of companies that promote to white people, but what does that mean to the WHOLE WORLD?

he's the spokesperson for unicef? who gives a flying frick?
Why would UNICEF hitch itself to an athlete who is without universal appeal?
"Children of South Sudan, we bring you an Argentinian of below-average height."
That's not to say that he is the most recognizable athlete in the world. Many of your other arguments are very relevant wrt Lionel Messi, and that's why many would choose Cristiano Ronaldo as the most recognizable soccer player (even over David Beckham).
That's also not to say that there are no American athletes who can compare in overall international relevance, but it would be insane to suggest that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo would not be in the conversation of "most recognizable athlete (not that you said that)."

And we said, Lester, that Messi plays about 50 times a year, to a worldwide audience...from August to June. (July if you count World Cup or Copa America years.)
