I don’t believe he is and honestly shouldn’t be second highest paid Qb in the league. Fair price would prob be right below Wilson in that wentz/Rodgers range

He isn't even worth half of it.

No, but it’s insanely difficult to get a competent FA QB. Is winning worth giving Dak 40+? Probably

I hope Jerry Jones thinks he is.

I don’t think he has shown to be worth this much as of yet. He could still improve but as of right now he has not shown enough. He did have a lot of yards last year, but a lot of those were in the 2nd half when they were down multiple scores. As Shannon Sharpe has said... empty calories.

Hell no.

Paying 40 million to go 9-7 at best.

I'd say half of it is about his value. 20-25 million is value for Dak.

He just isn't that good, but there's such a lack of good QB's in the NFL, he is going to get paid large.

A year ago we had posters saying Dak wouldn't get $100 million over the course of his entire contract. Now we're talking about $40 million per season.

He is at best the 10th best QB in the league..... but if the Cowboys are willing to pay him big bucks for mediocre results that’s on them.

To be fair, I didn't agree that he was worth $40mil, but he's sure as shite worth a good bit more than $20mil

Bridgewater $21m
Carr $25m
Stafford $27m
Jimmy G $27.5m
Tannehill $29.5m

He's arguably better than all those dudes, I do think he's better than all those dudes. I'd also take Dak over Goff and Cousins, who are making $33mil.

Even if you don't agree with me that he's above all those dudes, he's at the very least comparable/middle of the pack on that list, which puts him near $30mil in value, give or take.

At $20mil ish, he'd rather easily be by far the best bargain contract for a QB in the NFL not on a rookie deal.

schefter said today dallas has to get a deal done by wednesday to only count ~30m towards the cap which dak if he doesn't sign would get ~$38m.

So dak is gonna not sign and get franchised and pull a Kurt Cousins and get his money. Dak is playing the cowboys and they are completely fricked.

I think Andy Dalton is better than Dak.

I like Dak and he seems to be a good person and maybe they can build enough around him to win some playoff games, but he is not worth $40mil. In his situation his market value is high 20s low 30s. If he was out on the street in free agency he would be low to mid 20s.

I see your point and you are right.

I am more of a "None of those guys are worth that" argument type of guy, therefore Dak isn't worth that. I'd say someone like Bridgewater SHOULD be worth around 10 mill per max, and someone like Tannehill based on last season MAYBE 20.

But the reality is they have been paid that and Dak is better than those guys.

I would be loathe to pay Dak that though.

Personally I think it's more about wins that stats for Jerry Jones. If Dallas would have went 11-5 last year and not lost to the Eagles with ZERO starting WRs and 20+ players on IR then Dak would already be counting his money.

Stephen has convinced Jerry to finally listen to him and Stephen is not 100% sold on Dak. He wants him to take his 38 mill and get them deep in the playoffs and then they will pay him the 40 mill he wants.
