It's not an SEC Dominance thing anymore. It's become a state of Alabama dominance. Hell, I'd be satisfied if any SEC team not from that crappy arse state won it this year.

It's not like the NFL is that great of a product either. It's impossible to play defense and there are no dominant teams. It seems like there are 10-6 teams winning the Super Bowl all the time now. I miss the days when Super Bowl champions almost always had a 12-4 record or better. Unfortunately those days are long gone now.

Increased competitive parity corresponds with the increase in popularity of the NFL. And the NFL is more popular than ever.

This.

I laughed at all the idiots who called 9-6 a boring game.

I think it's even better with the SEC dominance. SEC fans love it, of course, but non-SEC fans roots just as hard against the SEC. Like Floyd Mayweather says, "Whether they're rooting for me or against me, they're all fans, because they're all paying to watch."

It is pretty damn good, and it is way better than college where the quarterbacks cannot throw and the kickers cannot kick.

San Francisco was in the Super Bowl this year. They played defense.

The Saints were 13-3 just three years ago.

Are they watching? The rating for Alabama-ND ranked 10th among BCS national title games (out of 15), and that was with two of the most storied programs of all time.

Alabama-Notre Dame attracted the second-largest audience of any program in cable history, but fell short of its potential and ranked 10th among national championship games in the 15-year history of the BCS.
Was that the first National Championship to be played on cable? If so, that could explain the 10th place ranking.

there you go

Some banter in this bitch now.

I was surprised at how many people on this board were pulling for Alabama vs. Notre Dame. I mean, I got a good idea why but still... I figured more would have wanted Bama to get knocked off of their high horse.

and when Alabama did kick the shite out of them, too many people enjoyed it to my liking.

You are supposed to root against your rivals.

Don't be a pussy.

I kind of support the "we gotta root for SEC in the BCSNCG" thinking with the exception of that team. I too want them to lose every game.

Indeed. It is getting to the point that I hate Alabama more than fricking Florida. For a Georgia fan it is almost sacrilege to hate anyone more than Florida.

The rest of the country is smart enough to recognize how far inferior of a product college football is. The only thing it is good for is that it develops players for the pros.

Give me a fricking break. So SEC fans aren't smart enough to realize that CFB isn't as densely populated with NFL talent as the NFL? Get outta here. SEC fans get to watch teams stacked with NFL talent most weeks. Honestly...I'm sorry other parts of the country can't keep up. Of course the NFL is better football, which is why most everybody on the planet likes it. It's such a pussy excuse for other parts of the country to downplay CFB simply because their teams suck(not saying you're doing this). Let's see how much people in the Midwest and West Coast like CFB once they finally start fielding championship teams again. And their pro teams certainly don't mind plucking the best of the best from the league that us in the South already enjoy watching. We like the NFL and know it's a better product. We also like that our teams are littered with future NFL players and usually beat the shite out of the non interested rest of the country.

the ratings for the 1Q were great. The ratings for the 2nd half sucked hind tit. This led to bad overall ratings because it was a completely uncontested game.

I'm a Ravens fan but even I would admit that most of the Super Bowl winning teams from the '80s and '90s would destroy the Ravens team that won the Super Bowl last year. What was so special about last year's Ravens team? What was so great about the 2011 Giants? When I saw teams like the Cowboys and 49ers battle it out in the '90s, they stood out from the rest. You knew you were watching two great, great teams. I don't see teams like that anymore. Teams like the 2011 Giants and 2012 Ravens would have been divisional round fodder in the NFC 20 years ago. But in this era, they were good enough to be Super Bowl champions.

I realize this will never happen, but the NFL needs to get rid of the Wild Card. Divisions have only 4 teams now. You can't be the best out of 4 teams and yet you deserve a shot at a League championship? That makes little sense. It keeps more fans watching for longer, I get that, but the Wild Card is a silly reward for being "almost good enough". Sure, some divisions will have a 13-3 team win it with a 11-5 team right behind them while other divisions in the conference have a winner with a 9-7 record. Tough shite. You play each division opponent twice, which is enough to swing it in your favor if the race is close. If you can't sweep to ensure a playoff spot, then you don't deserve one. Same in baseball. There is nothing more awful for the sport than the new system in MLB that allows 2 wildcards.

Oregon was very competitive in 2010.
Texas was in 2009.
We never found out of OK St. could've hung in 2011.
2007 Ohio State was probably the 3rd best team they could have matched with LSU (USC, Georgia).

So those teams' quality of play was at an NFL level? The NFL (every team in the NFL) plays at a much higher level than any NCAA team.

Cmon dude, really?

Alabama has had a very impressive run, but they are an Oklahoma State field goal and a LSU defensive stand away from having nothing to show the past 2 years, and LSU having back to back National Titles or LSU having 1 and Georgia having 1.

It's all a moot point, as what happened happened, but it's not like Alabama is that far ahead of the rest of the SEC.
