Anything except for the NFL OT rules
Current NFL OT rules are shite. I like sudden death better. The teams had 60 minutes of game time to figure out a winner. If you're still tied after 60, next score wins.

Simply move it back 10-20 yards.

Bingo. The concept is fine. I don't care if it's gimmicky. If you can't win in regulation, you deserve to have to go to something that is a bit different. Just add a few yards so that there is not an almost automatic FG.

The watchers and listeners of that show aren't a true representation of college football fans

IDK who else is listening, and I rarely agree with Kannell, but Greenberg and Golic are way off base on this IMO. Comparing college overtime to penalty kicks in soccer is apples to oranges, or saying instead of playing extra holes in golf they should just have a putting contest. Kannell is right, they're still playing the actual game of football. I agree tho that it should be knocked back to about the 40 yard line. You shouldn't start off almost in the redzone and still be able to score by going 3-and-out. You should have to at least get a first down to have a manageable scoring opportunity.

I will say, I am surprised, with as left-winged and liberal Mike and Mike(ESPN/ABC)have been lately that they're not on board with an equal opportunity, everybody gets a chance philosophy.

Move it back to the offenses own 20 yard line. No punts allowed. Get as far down the field as you can.

The next team gets the ball and does the same. You must go for two on the first scores.

If both teams score, line up and do it again. Winner is determined by yards from scrimmage.

Just play a 10 minute period. End of story. If that ends in a tie then sudden death with team who had TOP advantage getting the ball to start.

Another option:

One more quarter. Whoever is ahead wins.

Go to NFL rules for overtime
Only fair way to do it.
Safety concerns will probably keep it the way it is, it's the quickest way to end the game.

I'll throw out a completely different idea just for the sake of discussion. Why not just keep playing football after the 4th quarter clock hits zero until the score is no longer tied? It would take away some of the race against the clock drama at the end of tied games, but it would be more fair than determining possession by a coin toss and would be more true to football than college OT rules.

if you really want to make it exciting, make it a "kick-off". with no others on the field except the "holder", let the kickers dual it out. man.......that would make recruiting kickers a whole new ball game. haha.

TV will not allow that.

the ad space at the end of a game, especially a tight one, is more valuable than at other parts.

they want the drama.

NFL Overtime.

Just short of field goals, College overtime eliminates special teams from the game completely.

I also think it's silly a 21-21 tie in regulation can lead to a 45-42 final in overtime.

This.

NFL OT gets it right the most. I love college OT because of its excitement, but it is contrived and flawed.

If you have an OT game that is tied at 21 in regulation, they ought to score it as Team A 21.21 Team B (45.42 OT) just like they do in soccer for penalties.

Put another 10 minutes on the clock, then revert back to something more along the current rules.

My proposal:

The team that created the tie gets credited with a loss.

Wanna win? Make your score higher than the other guy, not just the same.

This is a pathetic troll attempt, but I will bite. Literally everything you just said is the opposite of reality. College overtimes generally last much longer than NFL overtimes. NFL overtimes are most definitely not "fair".

The team who wins the toss won like 80% of the time. It was all luck

No to NFL overtime. Horrible rule.

I'm good with moving the ball back to the 50 though. Or leaving it how it is.
