Shreveport is putting on one heck of a good tailgate again this year.

Game starts @ 12:30 Indy Stadium
Tailgate started @ 8:00 Shreve Fairgrounds

Ribs and pork butt on smoker @ fairgrounds. It is a little wet right now but it’s suppose to clear out before starting one heck of a good football shootout.

If you’re at the game let me know and I’ll stack some more meat on the smoker for you. Seems like an abundance of travelers from all over are already showing up.

Not sure if this is a troll thread or if you’re just stupid

Duke should win this one. Temple is way overrated

Why would people from Arizona come to this game when the teams are from North Carolina and Pennsylvania?

I was mistaken about where the tourists are from. I fixed it. Shreveport Fairgrounds are filling up with people is all that matters

Wonder what the fine folks who attend Duke and Temple think of Shreveport

If they came in on I-20 they all have whiplash

How the Independence Bowl has survived all these years, I will never know.

It had a great stretch when it was one of the better non NYD bowl games when it had favorable SEC/Big 12 seedings. Several years it was sold out or near sold out since it was an easy drive for most fans. Now it's so low on the SEC totem pole they hardly get a team now. But the big money boosters in Shreveport keep it going.

They would have come from the east since both schools are on the east coast so they wouldn’t see the section of I20 you’re talking about until they got to the stadium.

It’s a white knuckle drive up I-49 through some of the worst weather I’ve ever seen, but I’m not missing an opportunity to see Duke-Temple this close to home.

Bama vs Colorado in Sabans first year was crazy. So many bama fans there. I met the guy with the bear tattoo on his back. Also drank with some fans who had Willie Nelson’s old touring RV.

Mizzou vs USCe a couple years prior was a fun game too. Outside of the snow bowl of aTm and miss state, it consistently had 40-50k in the stands back then.

Yep. You couldn't shoehorn anyone into the stadium for the UGA A&M game it was so packed. And the Iowa State fans always packed the house and were the best to hang out and tailgate with. Very very nice people

They are. I miss going to games with all of them. We completely took over the liberty bowl last year and it was the home stadium of the opposing team, Memphis.

They put a picture of the pep rally at the river walk yesterday and they look to be taking over San Antonio as well.

Iowa state people are as loyal as they are nice and welcoming. Great people.

It's miserable today. Just had a tornado warning from this system in Winnsboro. Seems like the weather always sucks for this bowl. I remember the blizzard for Mississippi State in the early 00's.

I was there. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had a football game. It was a good game also. State came back from down 2 TDs to tie it. In OT A&M scored to go up 41-35, but State blocked the PAT and ran it back for two making the score 41-37. State’s QB Wayne Madkin then ran in a TD to make the final 43-41 State.
