unless you believe that kawhi wasn't coming without it

It's very obvious that's what happened
Wish we traded for Beal but it is what it is

Losing SGA was just awful

So OKC was able to lose Paul George and Russell Westbrook in the same offseason. Added 21 year old Shai Gilegous-Alexander (averaging 19.5/6/3) and CP3. And ended up with 15 first round picks and 4 pick swaps through the 2026 season.

so basically they traded to get a guaranteed loss in the first round of the playoffs?

Wait for real?
its a huge oversimplification but yes, they have a possibility to end up with 15 picks over the next 7 drafts

Well the projected win total for the team was 32 wins, going to far surpass that. If that happens so be it.

You said he was not going to sign, he was

I didn’t say that. He would have been forced to sign if they had agreed to terms. He was a Restricted Free Agent.

I’m guessing he wouldn’t have re-signed once hitting free agency 4 years later but still, should have had 4 years extra with him.

Simmons and Russillo had a great pod yesterday where they analyzed the George trade, and pointed out how stacked OKC is with assets going forward, and questioned whether the Clips would do it over if they couldve convinced Kawhi to come alone.

It was a pretty interesting hypothetical with those two

So you’re saying this week’s pod is again them throwing out dumb ideas and scratching each other’s backs?

The Thunder are definitely the most surprising story this year in the NBA.

I’d have them the second most surprising story. The Raptors are the most surprising imo. I thought they’d be a .500 team

You didn’t see last year when kawhi didn’t play they won at a 60 win season pace? That team is pretty loaded.

Good call. Most people were on OKC being pretty good if CP was healthy/playing, nobody had Toronto as an elite team.

Donovan is hands down the COTY. Excellent job. OKC will be a very tough out come playoff time and they've got a chance to make a deep run. Love that roster

Almost for sure a sign and trade if I had to guess.
