If you have a 3 month regular season and then the playoffs, does that help Boston be considered a front runner again? The last couple of seasons they would come out of the gate on fire and then fade down the stretch. This could be a perfect situation for them to get that last title that they are fighting for.

Good point. Might help the Lakers, too, depending on what they look like next season.

I would definitely help the Heat more if the NBA had the lockout during the last quarter of the season. :rimshot:

Yep, Boston and LA are praying for a lockout in terms of winning a title.

Bill Simmons had Will Perdue on his podcast and brought up the same point. Simmons agreed with you, but Perdue actually played through the shortened season and said that the opposite is true. The schedule was brutal the last time this happened. They'd routinely play 4 games in 6 day periods

the spurs, as currently constructed, are done anyways.

it helps the mavericks if the old timers like jkidd come back.
helps boston and LA as well.

Spurs are done at this point unless they make some changes. Too many other more talented teams that play better defense.

For Ray Allen and KG, I'm hoping the Celtics get one more. I just wish Shaq could have been a part of the team if it were to happen so he could get a 5th

Damn.

That'd be tough for a team like Boston. I believe they had a losing record on the 2nd day of back to backs last season.

Yeah, 4 games in 6 days regularly would be terrible for older teams. If they are going to cram a bunch of games in a short amount of time, then yes, this absolutely helps teams like the OKC Thunder.

Bad move if they do it that way, in my opinon.

It almost knocked the aging Knicks out of the playoffs that year, but when they got into the playoffs (and, therefore, a lighter schedule), they were able to play more closely to their potential.

that season started february 5th and ended may 5th... some teams were playing three nights in a row.

the spurs-lakers and knicks-hawks played a back to back in the second round of the playoffs. the NBA finals didn't start until june 16th.
game 7 of the NBA Finals was scheduled for june 29th

I still believe we win that year if Ewing doesn't get hurt against Indiana.
