I'm kidding. It's Alabama's excuse of why he's shitty because he's with the Saints.

What does this mean? He had a quick release. He had size. What other "tools" did he have?

he was huge, mobile, and had a laser cannon that was accurate

i really am sad that our coaching staff didn't let him run consistently to keep his mobility up. even then he still ran a comparable 40 to supposedly superior runners mauck and flynn (at like 40 lbs bigger)

Look at how over valued QBs are in the last 10 years in the draft.

If Brandon Weeden is a 1st round pick then what JR had in physical ability and resume certainly justified being the #1 pick.

You're a genius. I think that validation is what you've been looking for in this thread. Ignore that all your points against JR have been completely inaccurate.

What have I said that was inaccurate? Hell, I even challenged people to look up his highlights and see what I'm talking about.

This isn't about JR so much as it is about hype. Everyone is overhyped now. Luck was overhyped. Dude's a stud and a solid quarterback but he was also called THE BEST QB IN A GENERATION and that just became the cliche for people who didn't watch him that much. Did he deserve to be number 1? Yeah, but his stats and productivity is gonna be closer to Joe Flacco than Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. He's just insanely solid I guess, not otherworldly.

This is what I've said since he was a Jr at Stanford, and I've been somewhat impressed at times with his rookie season but I'm still standing by it. I may be wrong, but I really don't think Andrew Luck will become a perennial Pro Bowler/MVP. He'll just be a solid above average quarterback.

you say "he couldn't throw it accurately and somehow his great arm and WRs made it work"

JR threw in proper windows to make throws that other QBs couldn't make. it's a lot better to make a 20 yard completion with no YAC than a 5 yard completion with 5 yards of YAC possible

look at his completion rate and ypa. you don't do that without being accurate and knowing what you're doing. not in the SEC with LSU's impossible schedule in 2006

I think he will be top 5 QB in the game by his 4th year if the Colts can pad the team around him with some more talent.

ETA:

this is assuming Peyton, Drew, and Tom have dwindled by then. It will be an Aaron Rodgers, RGIII, Matt Ryan and Luck show.

Are you fricking serious? Luck is a stud. Because he has thrown some int's his rookie season he isn't going to be a superstar? Did you see Peyton Manning's rookie season? Did you watch that game yesterday? Dude is crazy good.

Oh no doubt. Wonder if St. Louis is going to enjoy those extra 1st rounders more than RG3

I don't know what the frick Kiper and the others were thinking.

they had no idea about the flaws in his work ethic that would be exposed when he got paid.

How would they be able to predict that? Could they base it on his prior experience of having a shite ton of money handed to him?

yeah, Kiper still stands by his review of JR as being the best QB talent he's ever evaluated.

The second part of this statement is patently false.

While that doesn't detract from what Luck has done this year, let's not resort to making shite up.

Matt Ryan? haha

The team and WRs around him will keep him up there. I agree on a shitty team he isn't as good as the others. But he is improving every year and controls that offense.
