Jamies never did anything during a game that rubbed people the wrong way. Unless you count this.

I'm glad Laettner's mom recovered enough from whatever accident had her in that neckbrace for the Kentucky game to resume her acting career as the mom on Burn Notice

Hansbrough and Noah were pretty damn hated. You're complaining that the players are too likable these days?
Wisconsin, Arizona, Kansas, Iowa state, virginia, gonzaga, Villanova, notre dame, Oklahoma, and even duke and Kentucky all have older guys that have been around on their team. They are the best players on their teams in most of those cases.
Don't go blaming the one and done whenever you can. Seriously those teams and many more are loaded with upperclassmen who play a shite load. Your problem is not with guys leaving to go pro, your problem lies somewhere else. I don't know where. Maybe the guys are nicer, maybe you aren't as into college basketball. Maybe there isn't a team putting together a run that deserves the hatred.

So you think Laetner was better? So you admit to being wrong? Bold strategy cotton
Shaq is my favorite alltime player. He in no way was better then laettner in college. Everyone knew shaq would be better in the nba. But at that second.......no. No he was not better then laettner

They were the last of a dying breed though. 4 year players who were national level talents for a while. Kaminsky is as close as it gets this year, but he was a scrub for his first 2 years and low profile for a first team All American.

The Morrison/Redick year was pretty awesome and Redick was fricking despised

That was over five years ago. Also, Psycho T graduated before the one and done rule even went into effect (2009 v. 2010).
There's Kaminsky, but he's too goofy to hate. and besides, all Wisconsin players are the same. I refuse to believe they are individual people. Same with UVA. They are all pod people.

Uh, the one and done rule started in 2006.

I think the most hated 1 and done guy was the guard from UCLA or OJ Mayo

I looked it up and it said 2010. My bad.
Still, he graduated over five years ago. If your best example of a current hateable college player is a guy who left school before any current player was in college, it's a bad example. We've gone 6 years since Psycho T and 7 since Noah.

One and dones were around when Hansbrough was at UNC. Brandan Wright was a one and done who played with him.

I agree with the notion that there hasn't been that level of hatred in a while. I disagree that it's currently because of the one and done.
WCS, dekker and Kaminsky, brogdon and Anderson, McConnell and tarczewski, arcidiacano, pangos, perry Ellis, georges niang, buddy hield have all been around and been big time contributors for years. They are all on the current top teams which is why I'm using them as examples.
The problem is three fold. None of those guys are as good as laettner or redick or hansbrough. And don't try telling me that has to do with the one and done rule because those guys would all stick around if they played today and plenty of guys ARE sticking around and contributing for multiple years. None of those guys are on teams that are putting up as good of stretches as those hateable teams put up (Kentucky probably in the midst of one). Lastly, those individual players I listed aren't really all that hateable. They all seem pretty cool from what we see. I don't know how to quantify hate.
Aaron craft was hateable but his team wasn't good enough to create a big enough stir. Doug McDermott was a 4 year special talent but everyone liked him.
You have to get a special blend of shite to create these transcendent type hateable players. We probably haven't had it since hansbrough but that doesn't mean it's over for good.

Great player. Arguably one of the best post-season players in college basketball. Ever.
But that motherfricker should've never been in to make that shot.

Basically Kentucky needs to get a 4 year white guy who starts or the next Duke white player needs to talk a lot more trash and court more attention than Scheyer or Singler.

If Pelfry doesn't stand there like a moron he doesn't get the ball
If Farmer doesn't push him in the back he doesn't step on the guy.

Meh. It was a physical game to begin with. There's a legit difference in a shove and an out and out stomping on a player in "retaliation".
Of course if Pitino puts someone on the inbounds that's probably different too.

No Farmer threw a forearm while he was in the air. But it wasn't called.
Laettners was called
I hate Duke but they made the call.

Yup. You need a white, 4 year stud on an elite team. Has the one and done rule robbed us of any of those? No chance you can convince me of that.
Posted on 3/15/15 at 11:00 pm to rockchlkjayhku11
It will have to be an elite team that wins and is cocky about it though.
The best would be someone who started all 4 years at KU.
KU brings hate from multiple states and conferences

Laettner wouldn't have stayed more than 2 years in today's world, IMO. Redick was rare in that his stock was terrible for the first 3 years. Dude minored in a foreign language bc he thought his career would take him to Europe.
Craft wasn't quite good enough to get beyond the regional hate.
