How much do you value Wilt Chamberlain's stats?

His name is almost always listed when some type of all-time feat is accomplished by a current player.

Happened tonight after Nikola Jokic got a 30-15-15.

I'm not that impressed by Wilt's numbers. He was essentially a tall man in a room full of midgets..

Considering the margin by which he dominated his era, very impressed dude's the most dominant basketball player of all-time yet people don't remember him as a GOAT despite that his name comprises basically the entire NBA record book

The game Jokic has tonight might be the best individual performance this year. Jaw dropping

Was it 16 assist in the first half? Along with the fastest trip dub of all time. Lot of people are sleeping on Joker when we talk about best C in the league

It’s not only the pts boards and assists

He filled the stat sheet and shot a great percentage from the field. A few blocks steals and 3’s. I’m sure Westbrook has put up a similar line but I doubt his FG % was anything close to Jokics line

My favorite stat is that no two teammates in history have ever COMBINE for 100 points in a game (obviously not including his 100 point game) yet he did it himself.

Look up some of his track and field records in high school. The guy was a monster.

So why didn’t Manute Bol dominate? How about Georghe Muresan?

Eh, Walter...

The Rockets’ All-Star guard tallied a career-high 53 points, 16 rebounds and 17 assists in a 129-122 home victory over the Knicks on Saturday, becoming the first player in league history to finish with a 50P/15R/15A stat line.

He's the GOAT.

I think he has the highest vertical ever in the NBA and at that height, even in today's NBA that would be a problem.

LINK

Let's compare the so called strongest player ever "Shaq" to Wilt.

quote:

Wilt used to work out with the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) during the time when Arnold first came to the U.S. as a bodybuilder. Wilt got his bench press up to 500 pounds. Shaq could only bench about 450, probably less now. When Wilt was 59 years old, he was STILL able to bench 465, which is more that Shaq has ever been able to do.

quote:

"Wilt wouldn't be able to dominate this current era" What would it be like if a prime 7'1'' 300-pounder with a 55" vertical and a 500 bench press came into the league now?

quote:

You don't see Yao Ming endangering these records, even though he has a four inch advantage over your average centers today. Besides, Walter Dukes is 7'1", Swede Halbrook is 7'3", and Mel Counts 7'0". How come none of these 60's players put up the same numbers as Wilt did?

I saw him.play. There were no midgets.

50 and 26 for season gets my approval. Kareem never did that or Ralph Sampson or any 7 2 guys recently. Not even close.

So the inverse of Saban. But both men dominated their competition.

Interesting.

I forgot about that game. Love harden

Jokic put up a triple double in 14:33 of playing time. Quickest triple double since 1955

Harden, Jokic and Bird are the only players to put 30/15/15 in the last 35 yrs

I don't value Wilt Chamberlain's stats a lot only because his volume scoring wasn't conducive to winning and his rebounding numbers were inflated due to the insane pace teams played at during his era. But I don't think anybody should question his ability. The guy was the most impressive athletic specimen to ever step foot on a basketball court. He would be a major force in any era.
