Jeter is a slightly above average player, lets retire his number!

Retiring Bernie's next year. Then Derek soon after I'm sure.

True. Sixth all-time in hits means he is slightly above average.

Before you attack that, let's put it in some context and not just throw it out as an accumulation. Jeter was good enough to hit at the major league level for 20 years. He averaged a little over 170 hits per season. He hit 260 homers as a SS. His numbers are impressive. There are no two ways around it.

Even if Jeter was a Royal, then he was still a Hall of Famer. His numbers are worthy, regardless of his overrated defense.

Defense itself is overrated.

Depends on the position, but overall I agree.

I feel like defense is getting pretty properly rated nowadays, but what do I know.

Jeter also made some iconic as shite plays at short. The jump throws that are made for posters, the flip (how I played baseball - running all over and always getting involved), and the dive into the stands. Damn, Jeter is awesome.

Except Hosmer sucks dong.

Remember when we argued about Jeter being the all-time hits leader one day after high school? I was right.

hosmer about to turn it on plus he's the only one on the royals with a chance to be that good. it'll help when he has like 6 or 7 rings.
