I wasn’t even engaging with you and you felt the need to come out of nowhere and be a cocksucker. A tale as old as time at this point.

And even still, I told you I agreed with you and you doubled down. Incredible stuff

I watched less last year than I ever had before, which is a continuing trend for me over the last 4 years or so. It's easy to look at the product on a week to week basis and see "Double A NFL". I went from following and participating in off-season events, some recruiting, and other items to not giving a single shite.

I’ll always watch, my passion for it has certainly decreased though. I find myself liking individual players more than the team itself

I'll watch still but I won't care nearly as much as I did, even from 2-3 years ago.

Last year was the most disengaged I've been, missed multiple weeks and didn't go back to watch highlights.

Moving forward I'm less interested now than I was in 2024.

I still watch.

But instead of wall to wall football on weekends, I plan around Alabama and maybe 1 other game. Then do other shite I like.

I’ve watched Alabama football on my phone more times than I can count the last ~3 years. I love CFB, but it isn’t appointment viewing for me anymore.

What about the people that were going to start watching hockey after the four nations? Did any follow through.

I’m still going to watch at least until something better comes along. I just don’t care as much.

Didnt watch an entire game, nor any of the playoffs for the first time I can remember.

I did watch a couple DII games and enjoyed them better. The kids play their hearts out, and there is no corporatized crowds.

I bitch and complaining about it all but the new SEC contract has 3 fricking great conference games setup for about 11 hrs every Saturday.

Hate myself for watching it though. :(

I will still watch because I am interested from a betting standpoint. Plus, I enjoy the in-game strategy (Xs and Os).

What's missing now is the tradition and passion. It's way too corporate and plastic now.

My Saturdays haven't been monopolized by football all day like they used to just a few short years ago. You can choose to believe that or not, I don't really care much in the same way I don't really care about football outside of LSU.

I think some of that is getting older anyway. When I was in my mid-20s it was football all day every Saturday. Now I'll watch OSU and then if there's another game I'll catch it if possible

I still watch plenty of CFB. It is the NFL that I watched a grand total of about 2 hours of last year. Then 9 minutes of the Super Bowl. LOL

NFL was my favorite sport for 30+ years. I was surprised how easy it was to give up.

I don't think I will ever give up on watching college football when it comes to Alabama. However, I don't watch nearly as many games as I used to and on many weekends I only watch Alabama play. I also haven't watched a national championship game since the 2021-22 season.

Your decisions are your decisions. Thus, I can't say they are "wrong". I'm just curious as to what has changed? The play on the field has not changed. It's just the frequency of the turnover of the bodies in the uniform have changed. Which is kind of ironic given two of the best players to ever play for LSU, and two of the schools three Heisman trophy winners, came to LSU as transfers.

Perhaps I'm different than most, but college football is just a form of entertainment for me. I don't think the players should be "representatives" of my university, and I don't hold personal grudges if they aren't...or choose to play elsewhere. I cheer for the "uniform". The players wearing it have always changed. Now, it's just a bit more frequently. But as long as they are wearing the colors, playing in Tiger Stadium, and all of the pageantry that existed before NIL/transfer portal is there, I see no reason to stop being a fan.

Is it disappointing as a fan to see a guy play well for you one year, then leave to go elsewhere the next? Sure. But I can't blame the players for doing so. There is a market for their services. I'm not going to advocate for anyone to turn down a significant amount of money SOLELY because it might decrease my entertainment value.

Pretty much everything with CFB has changed. Play has changed some but that isn't the complaint from me or most people who where diehards that have lost our passion for the game.

To sum it up in one word, money has ruined College Sports as it has been at the heart of most negative changes.

Conference realignments, coaches salaries (buyouts), portal transfers, NIL, playoffs.

Yes I liked the old Bowl system where you may have a double NC winner. It was super rare in modern times but it has happened and gave people even more to debate. I could have lived with the BCS but the second the BCS was started, everyone knew that eventually it would end up with a playoff and of course, that playoff size keeps growing.

Coaches salaries have gotten ridiculous and with them the buyouts. I can't blame anyone for getting that kind of money but with a $10m salary comes win a NC in 2 years or you are out. The goals of a coach should be, recruit a great (hopefully cleanly team), beat your rival(s), win your conference, make a bowl and win it and hopefully get a NC at the end.
Now it is buy a team and win a National championship (see OSU last year).
The regular season is basically meaningless now.

Conference realignment has permanently damaged the sport.
Having USC in the Big10 is sacrilege.
Texas in the SEC is the worst.

Seeing the teams only in playoffs or in special OOC games made them super special (LSU / UT 2019) now the games are routine and the outcome somewhat meaningless as long as you make the 12 team playoff (likely to continue to increase).

These changes along with NIL and transfer portal have decimated mid-major and lower teams. Have a good to great player on a mid-major, not anymore. At least with the old transfer system, players had to sit out so their choice in schools was more important.

Now we have players holding out for bonus money.
No wonder Saban retired.

Now I dont think NIL is all bad as I think the NCAA rules on player benefits was archaic and needed an overhaul but the current system is unsustainable and is on the path to destroy most other non-football / basketllball sports.
NIL will likely get reformed but the genie is out of the bottle and CFB is now the NFL AAA. Likely to happen is player contracts which may be a good thing to keep player movements down but that isnt what CFB is, at least not to me.

they can have their tv games and revenue
My days of buying tickets and paying for everything else are coming to an end

athletic departments are in for a belt tightening
you don't need staffs in the hundreds for football
you don't need the staffs athletic departments have
it's time to slash the budget

I hope and expect that I’ll always want to watch my team (LSU) but definitely watched less of other games last year than ever before.

That trend will probably continue although partially due to all of the other great stuff available now through Netflix, Prime, etc.

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely hate the path college sports in general is headed down with NIL but I’m not gonna set here and act like I’m gonna completely stop watching football because i know come September I’ll be watching.
