How many millions were just won/lost off that kneel down?

Minnesota -5.5 and they knelt on the last extra point.

Can’t believe it even came to that, but that is a lot of money that was just won/lost.

If you've got Minny, you knew you had lost before that play.

I had Minnesota -5.5 but I'm not even mad. I figured it was a loss but even after the touchdown, I told my wife that there's no way they kick the XP, they will kneel it.

Oh well.

There was WAY too long a delay.

That was Vegas calling.

Did you expect them to kick a meaningless point?

Why not, isn't that the rule...you have to go for the try...and it's still only 2 points if Saints block and run back. So kneeling doesn't do anything. That's cheating the public who factor in XPs when they bet.

I could see not kicking an XP if you are only up by 1 point.

There was a really long weird delay.

Not completing the try is un-American. People bet based on 7 points and 3 points...not 6 points.

I couldn't believe they made the Saints come back out of the locker room to stand there.

Well we know who bet on the Vikings. I thought I had Saints at 5 and didn’t realize I won till after.

My local book had Minny -5. Kneeling the XP was a huge money swing in both directions, however.

You mean to say when you gamble there isn't a sure thing?

Which casino?

Or was it some boogeyman lawyer conglomerate that looks out for the mythical Vegas’ best interest?

At least TRYING for the XP is considered a sure thing in sports.

How many walk-off TDs have you seen where they make the XP...almost all the time. They always kick the XP!

The common practice is to go for the try even if it doesn't matter because that's the rule.

They should ban kneeling for XPs unless it affects the game. Otherwise teams can just go WWE and secretly have bets on games and choose to take knees once the game is won.

Why do you take a knee? Vikings had no incentive to take a knee apart from personal bets or nefarious reasons. You carry out the play to the end of the game. You finish the game. That's always been the rule. Bettors count on that. If teams can just start shorting XPs during game to shave points...well, NFL isn't going to like that.

Because there's no reason to kick it and risk getting someone hurt.
The real question is why do teams usually kick it?

I won 250 on the game(overs, sec half) but also had Saints ML for 100 and Saints +5(200), was counting my money too early. Glad they didn't kick the xp.

Sounds like you lost your arse today.

Kicking the XP wouldn't have affected the game. There was no reason to do it.

To assure that you don't have an injured player going into the NFC title game.

False. Again, by kneeing it they negated any chance at a major injury.

Team knee out the clock all the time regardless of what the spread is.

You finish the game.

They did finish it... by kneeing it out.

That's always been the rule.

The rule does not state that they must attempt to score on the point after.

Bettors count on that.

Too bad so sad? Again, it's called gambling. They gambled and lost.

They did not knee it to shave points. They had already won the game. There was no need to kick the FG. This is no different than kneeing the ball on the 1 yard line to run out the clock.
