A while. He is not a slam dunk like Brees (who will get in on first year).

He'll get pushed back a few years. Brees, Brady and Ben will all go in before him. Eli might still be on the ballot when rivers is eligible, and he goes in sooner too. From there it depends when Ryan and Rodgers hang it up

I think Eli is a first ballot HOFer

It’s not that I think he’s worthy of it, I think they vote him in first ballot

Eli, Peyton, Brees, and Brady are all first-ballot.

If Rivers gets in on the first ballot, I wouldn’t have a problem with it either. He’s had an amazing career, especially considering how awful the Chargers franchise is.

I mean...if Terry Bradshaw is a first ballor HOFer then so is Eli. Winning does that i suppose.

He will get in late.

He had huge numbers at a glory position, so he will get attention. He just probably won’t get in before the Mannings, Brady, Brees, etc, all get in.

Winning, the Manning family, a franchise that’s got a big significance to the NFL
There’s a lot

I would love for the downvoters of my post to actually go look at Terry's career and tell me how its a first ballot HOF resume and Eli's isnt outside of "he won 4 SBs which is somehow now the bar that Eli's 2 SBs doesnt clear".

People remember these old school players A LOT better than they are.

I never thought of Eli winning two Superbowls. I think of his defense winning two superbowls. Eli by himself did not scare you like Brady or ARod but Eli was an above average QB.

Having the Manning name will push him into HoF. It doesn’t hurt that Peyton was a top 3 Qb during the Colts run.

He's kind of a Warren Moon type HOF player. Impressive numbers and longevity but not as great in the postseason.

I understand those defenses were great, but He was the Super Bowl MVP in both those wins

He literally won 2 SB MVPs and has maybe the most memorable play in SB history.

Tyree made the most memorable play in SB history.

Eli’s the jackass who couldn’t get the ball in the right place.

Dude...the catch might be the least impressive part of that play.

Rivers is borderline HOF at best. You can 100% write the history of the last two decades and exclude Rivers. His biggest accomplishment was knocking Peyton Manning out of the playoffs a few times. So basically he would be going to the hall for stopping us from seeing Manning v Brady one extra time.

*my thoughts from the other thread

If you consider his "generation" of QB's as the 5 years on either side of his career start, so ones that were drafted between 1999-2009, the only clear cut ones better are Brees, Brady, Rodgers.

Now whether you consider that the cutoff to get in or not is a different story. Big Ben will get in because of the Super Bowl no doubt, so I think you have to put Rivers in too.

The only passing stats Eli ever lead the league in for his entire career was interceptions, three times.

And while passer rating is not the best stat, Eli was top 10 in the league only once in his career and it was 7th.

from 2008-2010 Rivers was arguably one of the best QB's in football.

He'll get in because of super bowls, but he was pretty meh.
