That'd be like me jumping into the soccer board and giving my opinion. I don't know shite about soccer so I stay out.

There's a difference between between being " a casual fan" and "I don't know shite". Obviously you don't know shite about basketball either.

There has never been a player(maybe an argument for Kobe) that has such a balance of fans and haters. Which is a good thing b/c it keeps people talking about him and dissecting his every move. People have mentioned LeBron's personal life --- he seems to be a good father, is marrying his high school sweetheart, and got all of his "magic johnson" days out of the way, I am sure, when he was younger --- all signs of maturity.
He leads his team in every major statistical category. Considering he has two top 20 players in the league on his team, that is more than impressive.
He can tend to be bipolar of sorts, especially in crunch time, having a history of being a wall flower.

Bottom line, if he puts it on the deck and uses his size and speed --- no one in the world can stop him without fouling him.
Bottom line 2 -- if/when he wins a championship, the disparity of haters and fans will favor the latter... and the more he wins ... the more vast the tilt ... not one not two ... maybe three and he'll be as loved as MJ I am certain

People are always looking for a "hero" and a "villain" --- LeBron plays both really well right now.

Yeah you are for sure in the "expert" category, my apologies

Exactly. It seems like people in this thread are looking at it two ways: you can either think he's the best player in the world and be a huge fan of his, or you can think he's overrated and overhyped and hate him. I think he's incredible but am not a fan of his because I'm a Cavs fan. The end.

I will also add to solidify his greatness (especially on an all-time scale) he needs a championship, and in the Finals, he needs to be the primary leader/go-to-guy, or at least about equal to Wade, but I think even LeBron's biggest fans would largely agree with that.

I also think the OP's question is a little off. You can't not admire LeBron as far as basketball goes, no matter what your personal opinion on him is, because he is the best player in the world and the stuff he does on a basketball court (when he is on his game and playing like he can) is incredible. But that does not mean you have to be a fan of his. You can appreciate his talent and not like him.

Sure. But the question is "how could someone possibly like him?" which is a crazy question. Just as is "How could someone possibly hate him (or anyone else)"?

Every player of any significance will have fans and detractors. It's insane to think otherwise. I don't like Jordan. Never did. Now, do I think he's the greatest player ever? Yup. But who you like is an entirely different question that who is the best. And liking a player is intensely personal and doesn't even have to be logical.

He's been pretty assertive the past two games, but will that continue if Heat make a finals push? Who knows.

Don't get me wrong. I know basketball. I just haven't watched as much over the last few years as I did earlier in life.

Lebron is definitely deserving of the MVP IMO. He carried the team last night to a blow out win. He has a lot of hustle to him for a superstar.

Ooooh...good one genius. I'm sure if I "stumbled in" a week ago I would be so much more credible. What are you ...12 years old? All those emoticons are a dead giveaway.

I don't blame ya. Regular season NBA tends to be

I think a lot of casual fans just come out for the playoffs because that's really when everything picks up and gets interesting

I bet that 95% of Lebron haters watch more than two hours of ESPN daily. This absolutely disqualifies them from having any intelligence whatsoever.

Now before anybody gets offended and claims that I called Lebron haters retards, let me assure you that I said that only 95% of Lebron haters are retards.
