I kicked and punted in high school.

33 yarder for me...I'd make it 1/2 of the time.

45 yarder...1/3 or 1/4.

I wasn't very good.

I was perfect on extra points though!

Harder than you would think. I had a pretty strong leg when I was young. The best I ever did was 38 yards off a tee. I tryed like hell but could never make a 40 yarder. Also what you will soon discover. Yes you need decent leg strength, but its more about technique and mechanics. Unless your prepared to lose don't make this bet.

If you do a 33 yarder off a tee, you might have a shot. A 33 yarder without a tee is very hard, and a 45 yarder without a tee is damn near impossible for a complete newbie unless you were a very good soccer player.

I have a weak foot and I'm also very inaccurate so I'm much more likely to throw 33 yard pass accurately than to make a 33 yard kick (and I don't know if I could do the former, no chance on the latter), but my dad hit a 25 yarder without a tee during one of my childhood soccer games (the football field was right next to us, and during warm-ups we went and tried kicking a field goal or two and failed miserably).

However, my dad has a lot of soccer experience and I've also been told that the weird shape of the football makes it a lot harder. The rule of thumb is 10 yards (aka 45 yarder with a soccer ball is as easy to make as a football 35 yarder).

I could kick a 42 yard field goal (never played soccer nor was a kicker)

I came up short about 5 times in a row at 45.

Also- I was doing this with 2 other guys (who are much stronger than me) - They couldn't make one outside of 35 yards..not even close.

I played soccer and the first time i ever tried to kick a firld goal i kicked one from about 35 yards. I decided to be a high school kicker my senior year and i worked my way up to being able to make a 45 yarder. Its not too hard. You just have to be able to get the distance. In 2 weeks you should have the accuracy down.

go youtube how to kick

And it matters nothing about strength/ size.

I am only about 5'4". And i have a size 7.5 shoe. It matters about form and KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN THROUGHOUT THE KICK

Accuracy wasn't my problem. I kick with my leg that I don't jump off in basketball and I think it's just weak. I came up a couple yards short at 45 and couldn't kick with my stronger leg

Sounds like technique has more to do with kicking distance (so the strength wasn't as important as I thought)

Its probably not very far off. A 45 yard fg off the ground is hard for college kickers

Off the ground?! That changes everything! I was kicking off the holder's shoe.

Off the ground I probably would be a 30 yards at most. It was much harder getting distance that way.

If it were easy wouldn't we all be NFL kickers? This would be a stupid bet to take.

When I was much younger, I made one from this distance. However, I had a great advantage as my friend was holding the ball on the top of his shoe and then I kicked it.

Never tried it again as he thought I would kick his foot the next time.

For the 33 yrder you may luck up and toe punch one through.
From 45 you have no chance

I tried it soccer style, which made it harder, never having played soccer. It felt great when I was finally able to strike one clean and straight every few kicks.

If you have the correct form kicking a soccer ball, then kicking a football is no different.

33 yard field goals should not be missed at the college level, especially on a team like bama

Have you kicked before? Soccer? Not as easy as you'd think

Not much experience kicking the ball. I'm 30 years old.

I'm going to a local HS in midtown Houston tomorrow evening to gauge the difficulty.

I love the challenge but hate to lose. A round of golf is the bet.

33 is automatic as shite, dude. 45 is pretty damn tough, though, but distance is only half the battle there.

guys in this thread are actually making it sound harder than it is, which is no surprise since this is america and soccer is for queers. but yeah i have seen non-soccer friends attempt this and look like the dumb asses they are.

ETA: i played soccer my whole life and have deep experience talking shite/being jealous of collegiate and professional kickers alike

Like someone said, unless you are a soccer player, or have practiced a ton, you have almost no shot.

Your not gonna make a 45 yarder if you weren't a kicker before. Seriously, not a chance in hell no matter how many warm ups you get. Don't take that bet?

33 yarder? Most likely won't make that either, unless your a natural kicker or played soccer. Even then, the odds are still less than 50 percent IMO

Well I'm sure you could make a 33 yarder if you played soccer your whole life. Haven't people been saying the only way he does is if he's a soccer player??
