i'm not taking away from mchale as a player, but to claim he would dominate lebron physically is funny

McHale couldn't guard LeBron because McHale was a traditional PF which is essentially a Center in today's game. McHale could easily handle Lebron in a pure low post situation, but LeBron's game isn't that limited.

However, McHale gets less credit than he deserves because he was an awkward looking white guy. He was better than most remember/think.

The game is different now because today's game requires more skill.

we're kind of getting into a transitional period, but how did iverson ever score so much with all of these huge motherfricking badasses populating the NBA? he was like 170 lbs of pure physicality

In all fairness, guys like Oakley, Anthony Mason, Mahorn could give Bron some problems physically.

ya think????? Did you watch any NBA from the past? just because lebum has some muscles does not mean he can take an old fashioned pounding or that he can fight or deliver an arse whipping.

Yeah, I've watched a few games. I'm 51, so I've actually seen the guys I talk about, unlike some on here.

LeBron grew up in a different generation of basketball with different rules and a different predominant style of play. Had he grown up in a previous era, he likely would have been as tough and nasty as those from era's gone bye. However, at his size, had he grown up in a previous era, he may not have been given the opportunity to develop his guard like ball skills either.

Good point. Back in the day, if you were 610", you played center, no matter your body type. Not so anymore.

for the record, oak didn't have much skill

he was the king of mean mugging and enforcing shite on and off the court, but he wasn't skilled at all really

Oak was a very physical rebounder. When the Bulls drafted him, he said at his press conference, "I'm here so Michael Jordan doesn't lead this team in rebounding again".

There were a couple before KG, but yeah, he's the type I'm referring to.

In a sense, but I credit Magic Johnson for changing the thinking about highly skilled players who happened to be tall (although I am sure there are several examples prior to Magic who broke the mold as well).

I think of Gervin. 6'7" guys were forwards, then the Iceman comes along.

I get what you are saying and don't totally disagree, but he wasn't the ball handling point forward types that Magic and Lebron are, or even an extremely tall shooting guard like Gervin and KD.
