They had pipelines into New Jersey Florida and California from Devaney.
They went after guys who were great I Backs or Option QB's
They redshirted everyone also.

They dont need big bodies for their system. so size isnt an issue. I agree with SFP
but Mariotta was the number 12 Duel Threat in the country. he was a 3star but for a Hawaii kid thats a good ranking since its hard to rank those guys. I wouldnt say he was a "nobody"

How did a school like Nebraska build a program from nothing to a powerhouse?
they've been good since the 70s, and were one of the golden programs back when only 1-2 games came on tv (that means they were a national brand and had huge advantages over all but a very small number of teams)
those who "got in" early have benefited an insane amount in modern times

they recruit a system that allows them to take underrated (typicaly due to size) players
mariotta was a nobody 2 or 3 star recruit
lamichael james was a 3-star who wasn't heavily recruited b/c he was small as frick
pretty sure dion jordan was not a big recruit, but was a superb athlete with a good frame
Are their coaches just that much better than the rest of the country?

UO gets talent, but if you look at a lot of their guys, they're not recruited by major schools
Maybe years ago, but there are in on a lot of guys who are wanted by others. Some fit the system, and that's what they want.

running the best spread option system in the country and playing a defense that allows their athletes to shine

their offensive system is awesome. are you really asking that question?

All of those facilities are brand new.
Oregon has been good before all that.

great points slow...they've done a great job developing the talent they brought in. Mike Bellotti deserves a ton of respect for what he did with that program.

Oregon was built by Belotti. He expanded their base and started recruiting kids that people backed off due to grades etc.
Oregon copied Colorado basically. They just were smart and didn't take chances on extreme kids.

1 they have talent
2 their offensive schemes are 1 read plays, runs or throws, and designed to get the ball to their playmakers in space. Plus the competition they play on D isnt the best.
they allow the D to decide the play and they just alway make the right reads.

They don't really recruit 2* guys anymore. They want the elite. Old days is a different story.

They have good coaches, most of them have been around a long time. Not many programs have their stability.

The other thing I think Oregon has done well is they take their show on the road. They'll play anywhere.

Not arguing that.

his only other offers, per scout, were memphis, U-Dub (i'm sure as a WR/DB), and UO
the best offer LMJ got that wasn't from UO was probably MSU

So how exactly did they build the program from nothing?
They just recently got these nice facilities. So that hasn't even been really used as a recruiting tool yet.
How did they first get good players to come to Oregon?
I can understand a school like LSU building a program considering they are in a state with a lot of talent.
But how exactly did Oregon build from scratch and get a bunch of talent from California over schools like USC and UCLA?

The ATC can manipulate who takes drug tests.

I mean 1 reason is because teams dont think they can pull those hawaii kids.
Like I said I agree with everything you said in that post but Mariotta wasnt some tard that came in and they made awesome. He came in when some good tools.

They copied Colorado and went into areas where schools wouldn't recruit due to clearinghouse.

Neither would I, or most imo.

They want bigger bodies, they aren't set on little people. In the past they worked with the dealt hand. They develop players very well, but they want the best like anyone else.
