I can just imagine them laughing to themselves at home reading about people going crazy over 87 million guaranteed for luck(really only 47 fully guaranteed) while they sign 100,200,300 million contracts that are all guaranteed.

9.5 billion in Revenue for 2015
25 man opening day rosters ( so 750 total)
No salary cap so teams can spend as they wish

= Huge contracts

They play 162 games a year plus a shite load in spring training. That's a huge commitment

MLB players laugh because their contracts are fully guaranteed, while NFL is not.

How does each sport break down in a pay per game basis. That would be interesting to see.

very interesting, but just the strength of the players unions of each league, if the NBAPA was smart and the guys at the top end of the game, Lebron, KD, etc, held out for simply no max contracts and an open cap would be perfect with the new cap

Difficulty of games is not even comparable. Baseball has 2nd most actual action time (17 minutes) compared to 11 minutes for NFL but not a physical violent sport and starting pitchers play 20% of games at most. Basketball players have the most action but again not even close to physicality of football.

They have the strongest union. It's that simple. Football players have the weakest union and despite the NFL's popularity they have the weakest contracts. The Southern roots of many NFL players and coaches and front office types keeps the NFLPA the weakest union and the fact that the players tend to have shorter careers means it's easier to break the NFLPA.

If the NFLPA had the guts they could make the most money.

They go on strike if they do not get guaranteed contracts. The NFL is the wealthiest professional sports league in the US.
