This is not a "hurr dur baseball is dying" question. So please refrain from that.

How do you enjoy MLB now that 3 true outcomes continue to become more and more prevalent every year. Home runs and Strike outs continue to increase every single year while balls in play continue to decrease. There in now more dead time between balls in play than ever before. Do you like this type of baseball? If not what changes do you think should be made to increase action?

Home runs and strike outs are probably the two most exciting outcomes of an AB. I love a good double laced into the power alleys too, but those days may be gone.

I don't. Too much down time. Back in my day, there was a lot more action. As you previously mentioned, now it is just K and HR fest- pretty boring to me.

That's the current trend. In the next 10 years we'll see more demand for hitters that put the ball in play IMO.

All this stuff goes in waves.

why? defenses in MLB are better than ever.

that might have made sense in the old days of playing on cow pastures, but now it's more effective to try to remove defense from the equation in the outcome of a play... what is the current MLB fielding percentage, .985-.990 or so?

I just love baseball. The talent and skill it takes to be a 3 true outcome hitter is actually extremely impressive. The MLB has the best officials in sports, too. With the NFL the excitement is always tempered by “are there any flags?”. About 1/3 of the time there are.

I enjoy good pitching and dingers.

Idk rather see a big strike out than a diving catch.

Also there is an added emphasis on base running now so you see a lot of good action there.

I feel like baseball is all about building tensions there are games where every pitch is like a kicker lining up a game winning field goal.

I’m an Astros fan. Lots of home runs and the fewest strike outs in the league this year. Altuve gets 200+ hits/year.

A big reason why the defense is so good is because of the shifting and advanced metrics. 90% of players can't beat shifts because they are just stuck in what they do at the plate.

I think we'll see that changing. Just my opinion.
