Up 2 w 1-and-1 incoming.
--misses
-Northwestern makes bucket w 8 seconds left
Tie game.

--FAU has 1 timeout and dribbles it past half court where they should take a time out and get a play to win

--FAU does not call a timeout and shoots a double covered 3 and misses

---Momentum lost

No way they win in OT.
Fire the coach thats horrible

not enough for how upset i am

It just makes my eyes itch so bad to see opportunities ruined by something so dumb.

Come up with a play and turn it over or miss it for all i care.

Dont make me watch a great basketball game and ruin it w a decision a middle school coach could have made

This is where coaching matters. I don't mind trying to rush down the floor after the chaos of a tying bucket like that but the coach needs to read the room (aka floor) and see that his team has no advantage once they cross halfcourt. That's when you call a timeout.

Fair
My main point being an insane coaching decision when tied with 8 seconds left and get past halfcourt w 4.5 left.

You have the momentum. You call the timeout. You get a good look

A lot of coaches wont call a timeout in that situation, doesnt let the defense get set.

There was only 4-ish seconds left when they crossed half court. I'm not sure many coaches have a "play" they could call in that situation when the defense is allowed to set up that would be better than trusting your PG to make a play.

It was that dumbass Steph Curry/Dame 3 that he took that was the issue.

I agree that this was a real head scratcher. They got the ball out quickly and got across half court and had around 5 seconds left — I thought they would take a timeout to set something up but instead the guy slowed down and ended up taking a forced, contested 3. Not the best way to approach that situation.

Right. Not taking the timeout didn't bother me. It was the total lack of urgency, I guess because the kid wanted his "one shining moment" shot. He had time to get into lane if he wanted.

Even Raftery exclaimed, "what are you doing?!"

Agreed, nothing wrong with not calling a TO, but the possession was abysmal.

And maybe ive gone too deep on the need to call a TO.

But like youre saying. Recognize the situation. Realize you arent set up well offensively. Call the timeout. Get a good shot
