Pretty sure schools can order custom shoes for a player especially one with injury. Only difference is instead of shipping it Nike hand delivered it. Why would that be a violation?

Because literally anything else given to a player is a violation.

You couldn’t buy a kid a coke without violations. It’s ridiculous.

Hell Charlie Sheen sent Hess his WildThing glasses and Hess had to send them back because the NCAA said it would be a violation to keep them.

Cream cheese on a bagel is a violation. Special team brought in only for one player to create shoe to meet his needs not a violation. Good job NCAA

Nike is an NCAA affiliated equipment provider. They provided a custom sized shoe of an existing line (Kyrie) needed for a specific athlete. They oversaw the production at the factory because the previous shoe failed. They simply provided proper gear for a player. This goes on ALL the time in both basketball and football the only difference here was the measures taken due to the previous failure and timing.

Not many facemask companies are giving out contracts to players for endorsements either.

There is also the huge liabilty if their product costs him his career. It's in their best interest to make sure this all goes away..

Was he paid to wear them with a strong arse offer? No?

Was his school providing appropriate footwear? Yes

See how easy that is?

Players get all kinds of shite from the shoe companies their teams are paired up with. We even got all kinds of gear as trainers/managers.
