Void Kawhi's contract, suspend him for at least one year, but his "money" stays on the books towards the cap/tax.

Damn

I’ll admit it. Pablo is good at what he does.

Fwiw both Toronto and the Lakers grumbled about stuff like this back in 2019

I just shrugged my shoulders at it thinking it was sour grapes but man

Just a reminder that:

- Ballmer appear to have paid Kawhi illegally (or at least against NBA rules)
- Clippers traded the absolute farm away to OKC to get PG13
- That trade included the now reigning Finals MVP, MVP, 1st team all NBA, and scoring champ in SGA…AND 1 of the draft picks turned in to Jalen Williams, All-Star, All NBA Defense 2nd team, All NBA 3rd team.
- Thunder had the 15th overall pick in this years draft which was the Clippers’. They also have the Clippers’ 2026 1st round pick.
- The Clippers never made a Finals with Kawhi and PG13, and only made 1 WCF.

This is going to go down as one of the worst trade’s in sports history. We’re approaching Herschel Walker to the Vikings bad.

So apparently the CBA has fines built in for circumventing the cap, 4.5 mill and lost of draft pick.

However, there is a "Good of the Game" clause that can be invoked for egregious violations and would lead to harsher penalties and likely a legal fight.

a Loooooooooooooong time ago the TWolves (I think) got caught doing it with Joe Smith of all people and lost like 5 picks

Just text some friends this exact thing. “How often does this happen that we don’t know about?”

Yeah this reeks of an inside job of some sorts. But why would they think the penalty isn't going to outweigh getting out of his contract

Why would KL be the one in trouble? Strip his salary from him to repay! He's the criminal, not some overly rich guy giving him a few bucks.
And ban the agent, you know damn well he was in on it
