Historical NBA Championship Team Breakdown by HOFers on team...

Have just been curious with the LeBron talk and the 'you can't win a championship by yourself, XX player had XX HOFer on his team.' So I went through each team that won an NBA championship and listed the HOFers on the team. In the later years I speculated some.
This isn't the end of the discussion as sometimes a HOFer was at the tail end or beginning of his career or maybe was injured, so didn't contribute a ton to that championship. And of course in individual years a player that never made it to the HOF could have had a HOF-level season.

Back in the day the role players form the multi championship teams got put in the HOF because the teams they were on, not there skills.

WTF? Why doesn't Wade have an asterisk next to his name?

I don't think 7 NBA seasons gets him in. If Wayne has a press conference tomorrow and announces he's quitting basketball to pursue acting or something, i think he doesnt make the HOF.
eta: ESPECIALLY when he has missed an average of 15g/season in those 7.

DWade is a HOF 100%
Rodman should be a HOFer 100% but probable won't
Allen and Garnett should 100% NOT be a HOFer. But will probable get in.
Parker, Pierce, Gasol and all of the Detroit guys have no shot.
Unless Bynum or Rondo do smomething spectacular they have no shot
HOF is supposed to be for the best

if tony parker plays 10 more years and wins 3 more championships, he has no shot?

he's 24, if he plays like he did this year for 8 more seasons he will get in

No way Wade gets in if he hangs them up right now.
Not with the way his teams have performed since the title season.

let's go ahead and rule out Bynum. 5 seasons in and his knees look shot, and he hasnt even had a great (or very good) season by any means.

sure he wont make it, but the guy will be 23 next season. he averaged 15 and 8 as a 22yo and has shown the ability to be an elite shot blocker. plus maybe medical science is advancing?

Bynum's career will be over in less than 10 years, the closest he'll get to the HOF will be if he goes to visit it as a tourist.

an old 23 in his 6th season, and hasn't developed at all since his 3rd year in the NBA. He actually plays more timid and scared now and has missed about as many games as he has played the last 3 years.

when? has never finished top 10 in the league in blocked shots, and his numbers have been way down since being injured a few years ago.

prob so, but his knees are regressing at a faster pace.
Not attacking you, but Bynum has zero shot and might not ever even make a single all star team in his entire career.

not attacking you, but zero is the wrong word. he has been injured constantly, so he hasn't racked up any top 10 stats. he has put up very good per minute blocked shot #s in most years. he's put up PERs in the 20s the last few years.
this possibility can only happen if he is healthy. presumably that is why he has played scared as well.
and i think he is more likely to never make an all-star team than he is to make one. doesnt mean he has zero shot at the hall of fame.

I would be interested to see this list supplanted with guys who were all-stars, either in the year of the championship, or the year before/after.

Wow. Did you just start watching the NBA in the last 3 or 4 years? KG in his prime was dominant. He has been named league MVP and was in the top 3 in the voting most years. Right now he is a shell of his former self and he is still a quality NBA player. The guy was flat out unstoppable in his prime and he carried some absolutely horrible teams to the playoffs. Teams that were far worse than anything Lebron ever had in Cleveland.
Posted on 7/19/10 at 1:19 pm to AreJay
You left Mitch Richmond off the 2002 Lakers and Alonzo Mourning off the Heat championship team. Not that either was anywhere near their HOF form by the time they were on those teams, but neither were a lot of guys on the list.
eta: and yeah, Garnett is a top 3 power forward of all time. On what grounds don't you think he should be a HOFer?
