Zachary 21 - WF 12. Both teams looked sloppy. Trey Dez is going to be an issue for teams that play Zachary. Even with it being overcast that was one of the hottest football Friday nights that I can remember.

Chalmette defeats Douglass 29-12

The first half ran long due to penalties and incomplete passes, and everyone just kind of got bored in a blowout game and wanted to go home, so we had a running clock second half. The next few weeks will be more competitive anyway

Ruston 14 West Monroe 0

Ruston is a top 5 HS football team in the state. Most likely win go undefeated this season and be playing for state in football.

West Monroe played a lot of sophomores and did not have their starting QB, Federico.

Big disappointment for Federico as he did not make Team USA in baseball.
Nice young man and he will bounce back.

Whether Federico will start next week for West Monroe remains to be seen.

Lots of room for improvement for WM but there is a lot of young talent on the team and will be a contender at the end of the FB season.

Walker 16
Denham Springs 0

Walker took the opening KO and ran the ball down Denham's throat for the a score with zero passes. Denham goes 3 & out and snaps the ball on the punt out of the EZ for a safety on their first drive. Opening drive of the 2nd half, Denham QB throws an INT and Walker goes 25 yards for another TD to go up 16-0. Denham managed one drive inside the 30 of Walker but turned it over on downs in the 2nd 12 minute quarter.

Hydration breaks will make these HS games go very long until it cools off. The two 12 minute quarters, plus 10 min break between, them lasted almost 2 hours to complete.

hydration breaks have been at the halfway point of every quarter in august and september in LA since 1998. They are 1 minute long. Penalties and enforcement add much more time.
