Just about every talking head has said that Moore should’ve better protected himself and the hit wasn’t overly bad.

Yeah, that was bad. WTF was that kid thinking? Moore's basically having a seizure and he's high fiving everyone like he just did a Maualuga hit on Cowan.

Yeah
A late slide can be hard for the defender to adjust to and if you aren't aggressive you can get juked and posterized. I can give some benefit of the doubt for the hit.
But the celebration was the part that made him come off like a sociopath because he caused a possible permanent injury and wasn't phased or concerned
