Coming from LFT to Monroe looks like a 3 and a half hour drive.... With no stops that look appealing. Is there anything to do in Monroe for a solo 28yr? If not maybe something on the way through? Thanks for the info guys. I've been growing out my beard for this big occasion.

Was afraid that it was becoming painfully obvious. Sounds almost miserable. :-/

Don't drink and drive in Monroe. I grew up there and know the area well. Trust me. You don't want to spend a night at the OCC.
Sixth Street will be good tonight and Saturday night. Places to eat:
Waterfront Grill
Mohawk Restaurant for seafood/ gumbo
Johnny's pizza originated in Monroe. You have to try it there.

It's about 2:45-3 hour trip now with the speed limit bump. Don't speed in Georgetown and Polloch. Where are you staying?

I'm headed up there as well. Meeting some friends at Portico's (sp?) before the game. This place any good?

It's ok. They have Bass on tap at least.

Nah it has pretty good burgers supposedly. I've eaten there 3-4 times and I've gotten the BBQ Shrimp and various po boys. They were all perfectly fine, but nothing really memorable.

Portico is good. Fieldhouse is good if your just going for beers. Not crazy about the food.
I'd suggest crawfish at Riverside or Cormier's if you wanted to do that.

Go to Pickel Barrell after the game. Lot of folks your age and its usually a decent crowd on Saturday night. Sixth st is too packed and being overrun by a younger crowd.
