How hard are you wanting to go for autographs?

The back fields are always great for autographs. It will be mostly minor leaguers back there during practices, but there will always be MLB guys around. There's little keeping you from being next to all the guys, and if its minor leaguers, there wont be any security stopping you from being shoulder to shoulder with them.

Inside, get there when the gates open and head to the berm in left field. The cages are right behind the outfield, and you can get graphs from both teams, depending on who is back there. Dont try either dugout. You wont get anything worthwhile.

After the game, head back out to the practice fields to the field behind the main stadium, there is a fence next to the players parking lot and all guys will come out there.

I havent done too many other stadiums for graphs. What I do know is that dont go to Lakeland. There is no access anywhere for the Tigers or the visiting team. Never go to a Yankees or Red Sox game. It will be filled with northerners pushing and yelling. Not worth the time. Philly has the best set up of any team in the northern part of the Grapefruit League. Easy to get guys inside and outside.

I make sure to get there early, it’s just tough when you don’t know ‘where’ to be. I have a few minor league cards, but I generally save that stuff for when I am here in CC watching Double A.

Thanks for the heads up on where to be in the ballpark and whatnot. I don’t think My buddy and I will be going to Lakeland. We will be hitting up the Phillies. I figured going to see the Yankees means I will only try for the visiting team.

Here’s my CSB. I was sitting front row by the home dugout in Seattle this last 4th of July. I had a card of Ichiro...just in case. Sure enough, he came out to stretch and warmup. Seeing as how I was on row 1, I didn’t have to be make a huge effort to find a good spot in case he signed. I was so wrong. I hate to say it was mostly Asians, but it was mostly Asians who were climbing over rows of seats, stepping on feet, standing on my seat leaning over me. It was a sad display. He signed right in front of me for a few minutes and I missed out because of the ambush. I’m just glad I survived.

I dont do MLB games. Im heading to Spring Training for the first time in 5 years at the beginning of March for 5 days, and although Im excited, Im also dreading all the people. Im a minor league guy, and mostly the smaller leagues so there isnt as many players.

If you are going to Disney, I would definitely get on eBay and grab some cards. Youll want some of those guys. 2016-2018 Bowman Draft is your friend and can get you a number of cards.

This is exactly the boat I’m in. My Arizona trip was 5 years ago.

The Texas League is what I do, and after Houston won the World Series, everybody and their mom was all of a sudden a die hard fan down here in Corpus Christi. I spend most of my time on the visitor side anyway, but still. I also take trips in the summer. It amazes me that some triple A ballparks (New Orleans, Colorado Springs) have almost zero autographing activity out there, but some Double A stadiums get packed at a tunnel.

For sure...that’s always where you find the younger guys.

My two home parks are Nashville and Bowling Green, and its almost always the same 6-8 guys graphing. We know each other and we are all collectors, except for the snotty kids. Kids are the worst, but thats another story. The only game last year where it was bad was when Fresno was in town and Tucker was back with the team. It was a four game series, and I only went to the first game. Im not fighting people to try and get an autograph.

I went to a total of 10 MiLB stadiums last year and the only one that was bad was Gwinnett, but I figured it would be, being right outside of Atlanta. It was packed with dealers and Charlotte was there, so everyone was trying to get Eloy. Once again, 25+ grown men pushing each other trying to get an autograph. They surrounded Eloy and he just said frick them and got on the bus.

It’s sort of like when a foul ball bounces in the lap of an older guy, and a kid runs up and begs for it. That happened to me 0 times as a kid. We always hear about how the kid will appreciate it more...then you see them start bouncing it on the ground like a basketball before stashing it at home with their other 100+ foul balls they have begged for...but I digress...

I see this shite too. I take some cards. If I get a signature, great. If not, whatever. Seeing people lose their shite over a ball player ignoring them because they don’t know how to act sort of amuses me these days.

A nice thing about them moving to Sarasota County next year is that it makes it even easier to make trips between venues along the Gulf Coast.

That is annoying but that wasnt what I was referencing. I know adults get shite for getting autographs instead of kids, and that the only reason adults want them is to sell them. For the most part, Ive seen the exact opposite. The kids are the ones that sell the autographs they get on their instagrams/ebay and adults are more likely to be the ones to actually keep what they get, and most of these kids try to use their status as a kid to do whatever they want to get autographs because no one is going to yell at them.
