Mock drafts are notoriously wrong this time of year

Jevan Snead
Hackenberg
Matt Barkley
Cardale Jones

All were sure first first round picks before their last year

Browning is a good college player that could carve out a career in the next level but he does have massive arm deficiencies that will likely keep him out the top rounds

I am sure Louisville is not slinging the ball down the field so those are mainly easy passes to complete

Louisville throws deep a lot. Every Petrino offense that I can remember has never been shy about chucking it deep.

ETA: Jackson was 12th in the country in YPA last year.

Problem was for 3 of the QB's they had new offensive coordinators their final season
Hackenberg, Snead and Jones
With Barkley there was a power struggle with Kiffin and USC's offensive coordinator. Kiffin started calling plays I believe during the Stanford game
The Stanford game was what killed Kiffin at USC and Matt Barkley's draft status

2010 Big 12 was decent with 4 1st round picks, but none of them really panned out (of course)

Robert Griffin III
Ryan Tannehill
Brandon Weeden
Landry Jones
Blaine Gabbert

None of those QBs panned out in the league so clearly there was more issues than the OC

I am not sure you can say that
Everyone has different theories about QB's but from what I have seen there are few and they are far between that can win and have success no matter the coaches or personal.

Most QB's are a product of the system and longer they are allowed to find success in a system the more they understand the playbook and more importantly the more confidence they have

Since I live on the California Central Coast I interact with a lot of Niner fans and they have this belief that if they drafted Aaron Rodgers instead of Alex Smith they would have won 4 Super Bowls by now

I think they are delusional as Alex Smith was dealt a shitty hand by the Niners. From having defensive minded coaches until Harbaugh to having different offensive coordinators almost every season until Harbaugh arrived

Josh Allen is better than all those guys - yes, even Darnold.

I have not seen him play.
I might have to take a trip to San Jose to watch him in November.
From all the reports he is a great QB.
He was just from a small farm town in the Central Valley so he was not heavily recruited
I do not understand how Fresno State missed this kid right under their nose
Maybe it is a change from when Pat Hill stopped coaching but when Hill was there he scooped up everyone from the Valley

Sam Darnold is the real deal and has the potential to be a very very good qb in the NFL.

2007 the SEC had 4 future first round picks on the roster. 3 (Jamarcus, Cam, and Stafford) went #1 overall. Tebow being the 4th.

I believe Rodgers was underrated because of Jeff Tedford
There was a belief that Jeff Tedford QB's failed in the NFL. Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, David Carr and Kyle Boller

More importantly Rodgers was able to sit and wait under Farve. Rodgers except for his rookie year has had the same head coach. This has allowed Rodgers to grow into the system. Like Brady Rodgers knows the playbook inside and out and knows how to adjust to the defense.

We have seen what Alex Smith can do when he is comfortable. You have to understand the pressure that Smith was under his first 4 or 5 seasons. The entire Niner fanbase hated this guy and was constantly booed by his own fans until Harbaugh came in 2011.

You are missing the point

Put Rodgers with the Niners and Smith with the Packers as soon as the draft was over

Do you believe that they would a) Turn out the same b) Switch places c) Rodgers would be better and Smith worse d) Both become Pro Bowlers

I say b possibly with a 85% chance
d) 15% chance

I'd go with this one. For all of McCarthy's flaws, getting the most out of his QBs isn't one of them.

The whole Rosen situation reminds me of Christian Hackenburg.

An idiot to one may not be an idiot to all
I live by that motto because if every one thought I was smart it usually means I am thinking between the boundaries
At my alma mater we have this saying
"What starts here changes the world"
