His game requires him to have the ball, he takes a shite load of shots. that's not happening with Westbrook and Durant

you're 100% wrong

statistical analysis of his game

quote:

Martin took 259 shots at the rim in 2010-11. Last season he took 63. Yes, he played half as many minutes, but even after adjusting for the playing time this was a staggering decline. After a season in which he outscored every shooting guard in the league on a per-minute basis, Martin spent much of 2011-12 as a spot-up shooter.

stats don't lie

that FT drop has nothing to do with a rule change and everything to do with a system change

quote:

He was a master of the rip through move and that rule change hurt him a lot.

the majority of his FTs came due to shot attempts at the rim. he lost more than 75% of his FTAs

uh....he'll get to do it plenty on the 2nd unit when they're not on the court

martin only played 32.5 minutes per in 11/12 and harden played 31.4 last year

i don't understand why people are saying "we" couldn't afford a max deal either, he was allegedly offered close to $55 million, which is $4 million or so less than max. know $4 million sounds like a lot, but i don't see any reason the thunder couldn't have made it work. i honestly don't think he was work a max deal......yet.

i think every million you're over the new LT, it's 2.5x

and i don't think they can afford a near LT-level of spending long term

well in an ideal world they wouldn't have to trade harden, but if they didn't, they get nothing in return for him

Don't think that is true. They are the team that can pay him the most so they could have done a sign and trade after the season. At the very least, play out the season and see if you can win the title.

We can agree to disagree about whether OKC could afford him. It doesn't make sense to me that they can't but like I said, it is a lot easier to speculate when its not my money. I can't imagine being a Lakers fan. The offseason could not have gone better unless Lebron quits to play baseball in the next three days.

i am not sure of that. the melo rule would make it difficult

another rule the owners pushed to protect their bad decisions that absolutely frick small market teams

dude they're in a small market. a payroll over $50-55M is a shite ton for them

with a max harden deal, their payroll is going to approach $75-80M, and that's without taking a luxury tax into consideration. with the LT it ends up closer to $80-100M "real" payroll

Terrible trade for OKC. The value of mid first round picks is so overrated. This absolutely hurts their title hopes for 2 reasons

1. Chemistry
2. Martin is at best a slight downgrade if he stops being made of glass and doesn't decline AT ALL.

Lamb, while he is a good prospect, is not ready to compete at the level OKC needs if Martin does get hurt.

Can't believe OKC let harden go for 4 million when they pay Kendrick Perkins all that fricking money.

no shite, they offer harden close to what tyson chandler makes, and perkins is getting close to $8 million this year, yet we still don't have a good center.

Sign him, dump salary with picks if you have to save money. It's not like there aren't retarded GMs in this league who you could get to eat perk's salary. frick the hornets got the wizards to eat okafor AND ariza and got a fricking pick back.

Martin will be gone after this yr too. Those picks won't be anyone special and lamb is nowhere near being ready to contribute
