Like him or not, but Weirdo Jim has had success in the NFL and now college. Saban couldn’t hack the NFL and can only thrive when he stacks more talent than a majority of the other teams.

Harbaugh has the luxury of playing in a conference where if you beat that one team you are pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot every year. Fortunately the tide changed for Michigan the last few years instead of Ohio St. Is he a good coach yes but let's see him do it consistently in a conference that has won over 70% of the titles over the last 20 years.

eta: you don't believe me pull up Michigan's schedules over the last 5 years on this recent Playoff run. straight trash. No big out of conference games just Big 10 cupcakes other than the pretender Penn St and Ohio St. must be nice and the conferense championship game Iowa or Purdue

I've always had the opinion Saban is a far better recruiter than he is a coach.

Consistently has the best roster and hasn't won it all since 2018.

*Covid year doesn't count for shite.

Harbs appears to be elite at not only identifying talent but extracting it all from his players. If you go by the rating services UM had no business winning the NC.

Yeah nobody takes that seriously. .Half the country barely fielded teams and played so little games. Only the SEC was all in. That was an insular/incestuous SEC title only.

Yeah man, all 50 of his national championships mean he can only recruit and nothing else.

The amount of assistants Saban has poached year after year and yet they hardly skip a beat leads me to believe it his largely his coaching.

Saban’s coaching value has always been the other days outside of Gameday. I think he’s a pretty good Gameday coach but he’s not the kind of guy who’s going to draw plays up in the dirt or constantly out scheme you. Where he beats you are on the other 364 days when in it comes to preparation, talent, and development. Saban is without a doubt the best program manager of all time. Love him or hate him, he would’ve excelled in any field given his work ethic and leadership skills.

It’s why he rarely loses to inferior, unranked teams and it’s why Alabama has really only been “blown out” once since he arrived in 2007.

They are different coaches

Harbaugh can recruit with the best for meat and potatoes o line and tight ends. Why they are beating ohio state without Meyer . Harbaugh needs good assistants to help him get out of his own way. He also never adapts

Saban will adapt change and is a CEO

I really don’t know what people who say this expected Saban to do in two years with a Miami franchise that has been mostly abysmal since Dan Marino.

Dumbass take. Talk to people in the industry. Saban INVENTED the way people are playing pass coverage these days. He's a coaching legend and no one is going to surpass him.

Why don’t you check out Harbaugh and the 49ers. That is what people were expecting…..

24-7-1 his first two years, they hadn’t had a winning season in 9 years before him…..

Jimmy Johnson took over a 3-13 franchise in Dallas and won two Super Bowls in five years. He later took over a playoff caliber Dolphins franchise and couldn’t make it past the divisional round in four years.

There’s more to coaching success than just being a good coach.

Harbaugh did well with the 49ers, but he only has one title at the college and pro levels.

What makes a great coach a great coach, is the ability to win and have success in different environments. Asperger Jim did it. Didn’t matter the field, he won. Saban didn’t. He tucked his tail and ran. Facts. Would Saban be successful without the top talent?

Harbaugh also was a top program at Stanford. Stanford

Saban couldn’t do that with Michigan state. Harbaugh has proven he can be a big time winner in multiple environments

Saban hasn’t. That’s just facts. But Saban has proven more than anyone he can sustain successes at the top schools as a CEO. Most other coaches burnout
