okay, this topic again today.

So, has anyone actually laid out why ULL should be UL, or anything other than accusing other schools fans of being insecure, or pointing at other state structure that clearly have no parallels to our own?

Baers Foot is proving that point. They truly believe that in the future, they will be LSU's Alabama/Auburn, Florida/Florida State, Texas/Texas A&M.

The only insight I'm trying to gain is why it is a bad thing to have a true peer to LSU in this state. I'm not trying to make any point.

Anytime another in-state school gains ground (ex.)LaTech's attempt to absorb LSU-S) there's always someone telling said school to know their place. I was always taught that competition was a good thing? Maybe with unabated competition, LSU could be a much brighter flagship for our state.

Yeah, I don't see how any school could rival the academic powerhouse of LSU.

Good post. If those decisions weren't made in the economic slump we went through/going through, I'd hate to see what it would take for those talks to ramp up.

you do realize, as we went through the recession, the numbers for the smaller universities actually improved. McNeese got a lot bigger over the past 5 years through the recession. People seek cheaper educational opportunities, just like they seek cheaper anything else.

We do have competition, they're called the University of Alabama, University of Florida, and apparently the Univeristy of Mississippi.

The funny thing is, fans on here bicker about the good ole boy legislature that is keeping the little guys down, but I wasn't around when Huey Long was governor, and neither was any other poster arguing in these threads. Might as well blame me for slavery while you're at it.

Other than athletically, I don't know what you're saying here. LSU doesn't compete with these schools for students, right?

The funny thing is all the ULL fans in here would be the first and loudest ones arguing how bullshite this idea was if ULM had came up with it first

Closing down schools like Grambling and Nicholls would help.

but they're not. which means you aren't getting the resources to be a flagship. you have to work in the current system. you cant decide you want to be bigger than the system.

TELL ME WHY SHOULD YOU BE UL. make your case. if you can tell

bullshite you just don't want to tell employers you went to the University of Louisiana AT Lafayette. It doesn't sound as high a quality of a school as University of Louisiana.

I don't think the manager at Benny's Car Wash cares what the diploma actually reads.
