How the hell does allowing ULL to call themselves University of Louisiana, change who the flagship is? And why is LSU even considered the flagship? Their students are pretty fricking dumb, their engineering programs are a joke, and the football team emphasizes stupidity. Hell! You have mouth breathers like Jordan Jefferson and Les Miles leading the way. Louisiana is a dumb and crappy state in general, so I don't see why there is a problem with naming the schools, not like anyone out of state gives a shite. They barely beat out Mississippi and Alabama. Usually the two largest colleges in a given state use the "state university" or "university of" in their name anyway. Look at FSU/FU, GSU/UG, UM/MSU, etc.

I really couldn't care less what ULL calls itself
But coming off of back to back National Broadcasted blowouts, on ESPN, when ULL was the only game on in the country..and the morning head lines are bitching about their name. Local radio callers are bitching about their name.

Louisiana will always be my home, and I love it here. But when people get all fired up about issues like this, I can now see why we are so backwards as a state.

This should really only happen if Louisiana closes down some of their 4-year universities.

An athletic peer?
Id say it would definitely be a bad thing for the state in general if it is at the expense of LSU. Would you really want to turn into Mississippi?

There is nothing wrong with the university's name as it is. Trying to force the "Louisiana" issue is an instance of the university attempting to manufacture an outward image that it wishes that it could have actually earned by now. ULL is being dishonest with itself and throwing tantrums when the rest of the world doesn't play along.
ULL: know your name, and know your place. Your name is just fine. Let it go. Nobody cares.
