The sanctions are against Penn State...not Paterno. This wins are stripped from Penn State. Paterno's estate and family has no legal "standing" to appeal anything...they can merely comment about their feelings like the rest of us. Penn State has legal "standing," but were involved in discussions with the NCAA about what the sanctions would be, agreed to them and waived their rights to appeal.

The big boy Scott may die from the stress soon...geez!

Have you ever seen a case by an NCAA school appealed to the courts? They may have the right to an appeal by NCAA rules but that's it.

2. That said, there is another legal concept in play here called 'standing'. The Paterno family doesn't have it. Their letter to the NCAA had as much chance of achieving its desired effect as my letter to Emma Watson respectfully requesting some reverse cowgirl action. As such, they are doing nothing but making themselves look bad. They should shut the frick up. And Scott should go on a diet. He is fatter than shite.

Is there an echo in here?

Patern family, it's over. You had a great run, plenty of people still like you, but everytime you speak it gets worse. Save whatever dignity you have left and go away. Go back to normal life, it's over.

As for waiting for the criminal proceedings to wrap up before making a final decision: those 2 clowns face jail time if convicted, as well as numerous civil suits, so do you honestly think that their testimony, under oath, will do anything but make themselves look clean? And by doing so, make JoPa look clean too, as if they acknowledge what was quoted in the emails re "coach is following this closely", they will be admitting they knew bout Sandusky way back when. They will cover their own butts & in so doing, JoPa's as well.

The zamoro argument dies in the water the second that he is reminded that PSU commissioned the Freeh Report

That's funny...I don't read entire threads before posting. Basic law stuff. I don't know if we have great minds, but we think alike!

That is a damning piece of information.

I've apparently gotten yours and Zamoro's arguments mixed up. Never mind. I think you and I are on the same page. The Paterno's have no rights to shite in this case.

I'm not so sure about that. I thought his argument was that the BOT is throwing the dead guy under the bus to try to duck their own responsibility. So the Freeh Report said what the BOT wanted it to say.

I don't agree with that view, but it's the one Joepa's defenders are clinging to.

As best as I can recall, UNLV & the Shark did not appeal to the courts. They filed a motion for an injunction to get the sanctions postphoned while they played in the NCAA's. USL/ULLLLLL did the same thing when they got the death penalty. In that case, they got the injunction, they played, they got crushed & then the NCAA hammered their arse with the death penalty. And the Freeh report was no one man show: there were hundreds of people involved in compling all the information, over 8 mths. Freeh did not then take all the 1000000000's of pieces of information and turn it into his own document. Emerett said more than one time that there was no way that the NCAA could have done any better, as it did not have subpoena power & many of the Penn St. employees interviewed would not have necessarily cooperated as much as they did with the school's own private firm. Funny how it's all "poor Penn St." now after only a few mths. Not one word has been said bout the victims by all the pro Penn Staters since the sanctions came down. To most of us in the real world, justice was done. Period, end of story.

They can't?
When did they stop?

Discovery is a bitch. Just ask Ohio State. That is why Penn State decided not to appeal.
