quote:In Greensboro, Al they have two high schools, Greensboro East and West. The whites go to one school and the blacks to another. This isn't uncommon, but there's a twist. They play sports as one school so that they can be competitive in football.
Can you admit this is rare, like very very rare? I've never even heard of this.

bullshite. I've had far too many conversations with whites in my age range that have told me that their parents and grandparents would go on rants about how black people are ruining their lives, to not date blck guys, that they could only be friends with them at school, and so on

Yes it is.

you should get out of West Alabama
it’s only first world by association with the surrounding areas of the United States

I've been around the south enough to know it is pretty much the same

Just going by my experiences. Not all school systems are segregated, but the underlying feelings are still there

Well if you’re going by your experiences then you can’t really say this applies to much of the south because I doubt you’ve been to most of the cities/towns in the south.

I unfortunately lived in Livingston for a summer and worked in Demopolis. West Alabama and the adjacent areas of Mississippi are more backwards and poverty stricken and third world-esque than anything I have ever before experienced.
It’s like the land that time forgot.

Well my experiences include the places I've visited and the people I've talked to, black and white. In those visits and conversations certain themes we're constant

That’s my point. You haven’t been everywhere so you can’t make a blanket statement about a large region.

Well I'm not saying that everyone in the south is racist or shares a racist viewpoint.

Yes, when it comes to hatred, it is ingrained. What did your dad tell you about blacks
Hell of an assumption there. "White kid was born in the South, so his father automatically raised him to hate blacks". That's an awfully broad paintbrush you're using there.

It's as absurd as saying black people are taught white people owe you the world.
