05 USC was perhpas the greatest offense ever not to win a NC, but the D was porous.

I just don't see how 05 USC's offense was better than 02 Miami. Leinart is Dorsey with a better publicist.

Backs-Even imo
Quarterbacks-Slight advantage USC, but it's not as big as people make out.
Wide Receivers-Miami in a landslide
Tight End-Miami in a landslide
OL-Miami as well

The only advantage USC has is Leinart and to me it's not that big of an advantage. Not as big as Andre Johnson and K2 are for Miami.

2002 Miami did win. It was stolen by a bogus PI call in the endzone.

Play was analyzed, ad nauseum, by officials for past 6 years. Wasn't a bogus call....get over it.

You're looking at NFL production which is flawed. USC put up more points per game against a significantly better schedule. Miami played a dog shite schedule that year. Only 1 ranked team and it was a 1 point win. If you look at individual stats as well, Bush and McGehee had comprable stats, Jarrett had more recieving yards than Andre Johnson, and Leinart had much better stats than Doresy

Speaking of teams that got robbed - what about 1979 USC?

Beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and they didn't lose a game!

Hardly

Dorsey's Totals in in 4 years: 1153 atts, 668 completions, 57.9% rate, 9565 yards, 86 TD's, 28 Ints

In only three years of play, ML's Totals 1,245 atts, 807 completions 64.8% rate 10,693 yards 99TDs 23 Ints.

Take off Dorsey's freshman year and it's: 1033 atts, 594 completions, 57% rate, 76 TDs. 26 Ints

Publishers did not record those stats.

Yea,but they tied a 5-5-1 Stanford team at home,21-21.Alabama was unbeaten,12-0.'79 Southern Cal was indeed a fantastic team, but they did not get robbed.

Yeah, but Alabama could have just as easily gone in with a tie. I would argue that LSU should have won the Alabama game if it weren't for the pathetic officiating.

***Homer Alert***

2008 Texas who lost once all year, on the road to a (at the time) top ten team on a touchdown as time expired.

UT wouldnt have beaten Florida though.

Miami 02 would have beaten ohio state more often than not had they played again

Those stats show you a vastly superior player? Really? Like I said Leinart, by a SLIGHT advantage.

Not vastly, but more than just slight. Superior, yes. Many more yards over thee years, albeit more attempts. Even with more attempts less INTs. MUCH MUCH higher completion rate. Better winning percentage. Dorsey is not a Leinart with a better publicist.

That '83 Nebraska team is probably the one to me, even over the '02 Miami team. Didn't they go for 2 and the win against Miami when just kicking the PAT would have secured a MNC?
