I worked at a country club for my first couple of years in college. The people were awful, golfers and coworkers alike. The free golf was nice, but it was only on certain Mondays. I work at Michigan State's sailing facility, and I like that a lot.

The Oaks at Sherwood. I've been working here since it was Sherwood Forest Country Club. The people are great, since I know almost all of them personally.

I remember coming out here when I was a teenager and getting on the range before the sun came up. You couldn't think of anything more serene and peaceful then hitting balls into a rising sun with dew on the ground...

I don't like the dew. It's why I like to wait until at least 9:00 AM before teeing off.

However,

I have a spot where I can take my shag bag and hit balls by myself (room enough for every club but my driver). I love bringing my radio, turning on Jim Hawthorne, and listening to Tiger baseball while I hit 70-100 balls on a Friday or Saturday evening.

I enjoyed the free cheeseburgers and getting to be outside on the course a bunch. Being target practice on Pine Hill's shitty range picker upper with the holes in the net sucked a fatty.

How is this course? Never played it. Buddy needs me to fill in for him for some kind of fundraiser tournament next Friday.
