What Jeff Monken has done at Army is simply remarkable. He quietly gathered support from Army brass and went to the Pentagon to present to them a structural change to help Army compete in todays game.
As a Navy fan I miss Monken. He learned from the best while at Navy. With regards to the structural changes... I have read recently the new superintendent is not as pro football as the former Supe who was a former football player was. New Supe may be rolling some of that structure back, this is just rumors at his point, but it will be interesting going forward.

No chance he rolls back those changes. At worst, Army is putting together back to back 9-3 seasons. He wouldn’t be there long if he messed with the positive changes that have breathed life into the Army football program.

In fairness, he won't be there long either way.

I wish West Point would allow players to enter the NFL and act as an ambassador for the Army. Loosen the antiquated body composition restrictions that hasn’t changed since WWII. So they could become the national power that they use to be.

They will never be the national power they used to be. Come on man, get real. Kids today don't want to go into that environment if they don't have to. West point is fricking hard, it's one of the top schools for a reason, throw military life in on top of that and not many blue chippers are lining up to sign up

I’ve spent 19.5 years in that life. I know what it entails. If kids were given the option of getting a top notch education without the required commitment that comes after it then many would jump at the chance. Not to mention, some of these kids need the structure, responsibility and discipline that comes with any of the academy’s.
Lift the mandatory commitment and let them recruit and it wouldn’t take them long to become a national power. I’d also be willing to bet that at least half of the kids who accept their commission and become officers in the greatest fighting force in the world.

Saw on twitter..
Georgia has a 20pt loss and and a 7 point loss to a playoff team.. ranked 5th in CFP poll
Army has a 20pt loss and a 7 point loss to a playoff team.. unranked in CFP poll
CFP hates America

And the Academies are really fricking hard to get into with real admissions requirements and real classes. Not the phony Stanfords, who drop their admissions standards drastically low for football players (understandably) and nobody fails at Stanford, they don't hand out failing grades, it's impossible...lowest is pretty much a C.
Lets face it, Army wants the Best and Brightest, they're not in the business of grooming people who have no business being in college as a minor league for the NFL - they're in the business of producing leaders and from bright young men - not just the best on the gridiron...and the above does not match the below.

I was at West Point during summer 2014 when Monken took over, the players we’re practicing like players should during the summer while still fulfilling the responsibilities of being an Army cadet

Speaking on the turnaround and all the momentum the Army Football program has accomplished...the also recently announced a major restoration and expansion to the legendary Michie Stadium. Tearing down one side of the stadium and rebuilding the structure bigger and better. Including a memorial for Cadets who have died in battle. Looks amazing. Army is doing great things at West Point!
Michie Stadium Preservation Project
This is what the new structure will look like when finished.
