In comparison, LSU vs. Alabama, which was the second highest of the year, was at a 6.0 average - peak of 7.5 at the start of the 4th quarter.

Would you mind posting some proof of that?

Only lsu fans that suffered through years of shite offense under les miles would have this opinion.

If I'm going to watch shitty football, id at least like to see some scoring.

It damn sure isn't the on-field product.

shotgun firing 30 college games on a Saturday is better than getting your local team, the cowboys game, some bullshite game likely the jets and patriots game at night.

At any given second from 11-1am there is a college football game on and likely several somewhat entertaining ones

For all the hair I've lost watching les miles' offenses, I have enjoyed the hell out of the defenses we've had in that time frame. Maybe it's conditioning since it's all I've known.

I don't need 5, just 3 will do.

1) It's personal. Nobody went to the University of Dallas Cowboys. NFL teams are a business. They are professional entities, nothing more. The sole reason they exist is to make money. I pull for Georgia because I went to school and got my degree from Georgia. I went to class with players, I walked across campus on beautiful spring afternoons, met lifelong friends there, fell in love there, got over heartbreak there, learned to become an adult there. It was the best years of my life. NFL teams are faceless, empty corporations that absolutely cannot even remotely compare. There's only 3 reasons somebody is a fan of an NFL team; 1)they know someone on the team, 2)they have an affiliation with the city, 3) they're bandwagoners and the team is good.

2) No trades. I have a great friend I've known since elementary school that is as died in the wool a Cowboys fan as I am a UGA fan. This guy has been a cowboys fan since he could talk, he flies across the country to multiple games a year, knows everything about the team and its history, etc. Basically I'm pointing out that he's not just a fair weather fan. When T.O. was with the 49ers and spiked that ball at midfield on the star I wouldn't be surprised if my friend wouldn't have been ok with ordering a hit to end TO's life. TO was the most hated and despised human being on the planet and nothing would satisfy this guy more than seeing TO suffer. Fast forward a few years and whaddaya know TO is a Cowboy...oh man he loves TO! He bought the T.O workout bands, bought a player tee, thought T.O. was going to propel dallas to the next level. TO is just an absolute dream and this is awesome!!!!

It truly boggles the mind that you can absolutely loath a person one day because of their jersey then welcome then with open arms the next because they're now wearing yours. And before you buffoons say that people switch teams in college, it is typically for 1 year and it's because of ceratin factors like grades or being kicked out and spending a year in JUCO, not the owners and coaches not wanting to pay their salary.

3) Meaningful regular season. Look I get it...on paper it makes perfect sense how things in the NFL are set up but in reality sometimes it just doesn't work. Wild cards sound nice but hell if you're 10-6 you simply don't deserve a shot at the super bowl. If you've made the playoffs at that point what does it even matter than you've just barely eclipsed .500 on the year? With extremely few exceptions (yeah I know what board I'm on so you all know of the main anomaly) if you lose 2 games you're done, as it should be. There's 12 games in a regular season so I'm sorry but if you lose 2 of those you've lost your shot at a national title. The CFB regular season is so crucial because every.single.week. is important, unlike the NFL where you can go on a 4 or 5 week losing skid and still be ok if your division sucks.

So there you have it. Just 3 of a multitude of reasons why the college game is infinitely better than the pros.

When I cheer for a player for LSU, I never have to worry about them being in a Bama or Gaytor jersey the following year.

Imagine if Fornette was playing for the Tide last year, or Patrick Peterson, or the Honey Badger.

And having an affiliation with the Team you cheer for, like went to school there or live in the state. Except for Alabama fans, the majority of their affiliation with the school is buying Bama gear at Walmart.

And College Football is this pure, amateur sport? Yeah, maybe at Amherst or Leigh. Get real if you don't think major programs aren't essentially a "business". It's basically "Triple A" football. The amount of kickbacks, Cam Newton, SMU,etc...come on man. That's the lamest excuse I've heard.

Also, once again, the Southeastern portion of the US doesn't have many teams. People that grew up in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Detroit, New York. Green Bay (hell the residents pay for the team) that it isn't "personal for them".

You only get to see your college players for 3-4 years. This isn't that big of a deal. Completely overblown.

Meaningful regular season

Are you implying the regular season isn't meaningful? Yeah, LSU's 2011 season was really meaningful. So was Auburn's 2004 season. What about Baylor and TCU's great 2014 season to just get pushed aside for Ohio State? Yeah, the college football regular season is just splendid.

College football has struggled to get a true champion for the vast majority of its existence due to the bowls and BCS controversy. It has been one of the most flawed systems - arguably the most in existence.

3.) The claims to titles - I must have been one of the only people that thought having multiple national champions was cool. It lead to debates and conversations that are still had today. Who would have won between GT and Colorado? Who would have won between Michigan and Nebraska? We don't know, but we will speculate anyways. That's cool to me.

I think it would be cool if we didn't play any games at all. Just look at the rosters and claim national titles for the year. Think of the speculation and debates!

After a tough loss in a college football game you will often see players on the sidelines in tears.

After a tough loss in an NFL game you'll see players on the losing team yucking it up and exchanging pleasantries with the players on the other team. Why not? They got paid, win or lose.

And because they are grown arse men and their season isn't over due to one loss. They will regroup and get ready for next week... like an adult.

that goes without saying.

I think players care more about winning in college.

that's probably true but what about the players who jump to the pros early? And I wonder if McCaffrey started a new trend where players will start skipping bowl games (unless its a championship game).

Really fast tempo offenses aren't possible in the pros.

I dunno about that. Something tells me your wrong.. don't know why.

The regular season means more.

i'd agree when you have teams in the pros that win their division with a 7-9 or 8-8 record. But that doesn't happen often.

4.) Going to different stadiums gives you a different experience. All NFL gameday experiences are the same. Most teams have the same basic cheers, and the tailgating is all in a parking lot. Experiencing gameday in Tuscaloosa is different than experiencing gameday in Knoxville.

LSU will always be in Baton Rouge.

Notre Dame will always be in South Bend.

Michigan will always be in Ann Arbor.

Oklahoma will always be in Norman.

Georgia will always be in Athens.

I could go on.

I agree. I love the deep rooted traditions like all of those Texas vs. Texas A&M, Oklahoma vs. Nebraska, Penn State vs. Pitt games.

Oh wait....

Point being, for those ragging on the NFL to be money driven, where the frick have you all be in the past 10+ years?

Yeah definitely.

Usually my favorite time of year is September/October.

I'm not the huge sports fan I use to be but CFB and the NFL get 90% of my sports participation these days.

my main beef with the NFL now is that there seems to be more sloppy play than usual. I can't put my finger on it exactly but there is something off.

College Ball is cool to watch, especially early in the year when teams have nice out of conference games. I don't find the Bowl Season nearly as enjoyable anymore though.
