Ohio State has had plenty of success in basketball without Thad Matta. Not really comparable to UGA or UF pre-Donovan

Matta turned that program around. I mean, none of this matters for me now because he isn’t taking the job. But he still did wonders with that program.

I still don't believe you're actually serious.

I'm 100% serious. Rick Pitino is one of the best basketball coaches to ever do it. Why would I care if he's paying players? If UGA could get away with it, would be a home run.

I know it won't happen though because if he ever took another job the NCAA would be on his arse every day.

The second part of your post makes the first part impossible.

It also isn't about the paying players thing, necessarily. It's that shite keeps happening to his programs over and over again, and he just plays dumb. As an AD, you know from the jump that you can't trust him. I wouldn't hire someone if that was the case.

Not necessarily. Auburn hired Bruce Pearl after all the shite he's done in the past. I think UGA is a bit more cautious than Auburn though so I don't think it'll happen.

For the record, I think Tom Crean would be a great hire too. He brings a lot of energy and has won at two schools.

Matta wasn't going to bring the energy needed to recruit Atlanta IMO. That is why I was against him.

Bruce Pearl's transgressions don't even compare to Pitino's history.

Bruce Pearl's backyard barbecue isn't even remotely close to Louisville hiring strippers and hookers for 16 year old kids on recruiting trips. I'd be shocked if Pitino doesn't get a show-cause and I'd be pretty surprised if he ever coaches in college again.

60s and 80s. And even with O'Brien right before Matta (even though, yes, those wins are vacated).

Whereas UGA has 10 tournament appearances all-time and Florida had none before 1987

Kinda of disappointing, I was hoping that he did take the job and see him get back into the game. He must not feel his health is up to it.

Yeah, Pitino had no knowledge of anything that happened there or with Brian Bowen. By the way, I have some beachfront property for sale in Iowa if you're interested

Mediocre coach for mediocre program. Sounds like a good match to me.

The SEC will soon see Clappy the Clown in action.

How old is he? Didn’t he coach the Mavericks in the 80s?
