re: Gambler who won $1.2 million on Woods' victory: "I had never placed a bet in my life
I’m guessing he made the bet for someone who makes money in illegal ways

re: Gambler who won $1.2 million on Woods' victory: "I had never placed a bet in my life
All this does is make me think the match was rigged. Some small time crime guy knew about it and found some SOB to make a bet with his money offering him a small cut of the winnings.

Would expect to hear this guy has died in some "freak" accident 3 months from now.

Golf is pretty much ignored except for when Tiger is involved. Wouldn't be surprised if the PGA didn't rig it.

So what's the theory? That this dude bet on behalf of the mob or something?

He s either a gambling addict in the hole big time and did something like used other people’s money or got a second mortgage on his house for this.

Or he made the bet with or for someone else.

Either way he was offered $300k+ and passed it up when the field was still a heavy favorite over Tiger. That doesn’t make any sense given what little this guy claims.

I watched Tiger's performance at the Tour Championship, and things seemed to be going his way. I looked at how well he did there, and some other factors you can't put stats behind.

The dude who thinks a quadruple bogey means things are going your way totally just gambled with his own money. Sure.

Could it be that he's illegally using someone else's money? I worked with someone that was doing financial consulting, and ran a ponzi scheme, and is doing some time in the Pen. Could Federal Prison be in his future? The way he responded seems like he's very insecure, like he has something to hide.

If he's using someone else's money, betting $85k on Tiger Woods to win the Masters is about as dumb a way possible to clean it.

If he doesn't win, you lose it all. If he wins, you're about to win the largest golf payout in sportsbook history. The scrutiny it brings makes it a terrible way to use illegal funds.

Professional sports betters often have problems getting down a lot of action. William Hill is notorious for backing off sharp players. I wouldn't be surprised if he were the mule for a pro. If he's indeed never made a sports bet before he's got a clean name. Also I figured either Southpoint or Westgate Superbook would have taken this action way before William Hill would.

100% chance this guy was a mule for a big gambler trying to stay in the shadows.

I believe he'd win $10M if it pays out.

Apparently 100-1. Those odds aren't near long enough.

Even if he was 10-1 for the next three, that’d make him 1000-1 to win them all. He got terrible value

I’m more convinced than ever that he was a pawn in a gambling scheme
