They still had to drive the ball down the field to win. It wasn’t like they recovered the fumble on the 5 yard line and walked in on the next play.

The fumble that was caused by a Tennessee defensive lineman?

They weren’t a huge narrative? Maybe because they were ranked first in the BCS

Again Mandela effect?

Maybe that Tennessee team doesn't get respect... Because the narrative in history is they needed K-State to blow it. Maybe 1998 Tennessee needs a PR firm.

No, it’s your narrative that Tennessee needed KST to “blow it.” Actual history says otherwise.

The Vols were awesome that year. yes they had some good fortune including beating Donovan mcnabb and Syracuse but I wish we could have seen the 2 best teams play. those 2 best were Tennessee and Kansas State.

When’s the last time a QB got stepped on and tried to use the ball to keep his balance and left it on the turf, that’s a fluke… thanks

Peter Warrick was a damn special player in college.

Peter "my man" Warrick

He was my favorite player growing up and I just knew he was going to be the next Jerry Rice in the pros.

Travis Stephens was a big reason they won the 1998 title. Jamal Lewis was injured early in the year in a game against Auburn.

Stephens and Travis Henry carried the load at RB.

A “fluke” that was caused by the Tennessee defense. And regardless, they still won all of their games. That’s not backing into a national championship…..thanks

They almost lost the the SEC championship game to a very average Mississippi State team.

And? Almost lost means they won. Unlike UCLA, FSU, Ohio State, and Kansas St who didn’t “almost lose” to at least one team on their schedule, they lost.
