Why would my head explode if CP31 wins a trophy?

My head will explode if he folds like he normally has done in the playoffs.

Not once have you seen me blast him for his talent. It's always his lack of mental toughness and mental mistakes that drive me crazy.

Using that metric of measurement every goalie folds sooner or later right? unless the same goalie wins the cup every year.

how did he fold last year?

he helped us win two rounds then the rags ran him, hurting him and getting him out the ECF. SO tokes folded then amirite?

I'd love for Backstrom to win the Ross. Only two points back, and he leads the league in assists.

You need to give it a rest Fatty you weren't around during his run last year and I actually supported CP31 and before Sochi he looked awful.

But based on previous history he folds in pressure

From Sochi on he's been different but he still has to prove he can steal a series, which his predecessors all have done.

He didn't do anything special in Tampa series if you want to be honest he was solid. If you recall they had a rookie goalie because Bishop was hurt.

Someone explain how Abdelkader's OT winner was allowed.

I thought it was a penalty to play the puck with a broken stick unless you are a goalie.

Technically the rule is as follows:

10.3-"A broken stick Is one which, in the opinion of the referee. Is unfit for normal play." It's a vague enough wording in that it doesn't specifically define what constitutes a broken stick, so it falls into the judgment of the referee. Although broken in this case, the referee didn't believe it was to a degree to warrant a penalty. At least that's my thought

I guess another possibility is that in real time the referee didn't see the stick being broken as the puck went in, and the play was not eligible for review

Gonna be a photo finish for Ross trophy. Sid the kid in the lead now!!!!

Would be one of Sid's more underrated performances to win it too, so many injuries to his line he had Steve Downie and Blake Comeau for a month. I am hearing Dupuis is going to try and return to hockey to next year.

It's mind boggling how they have gone from a formidable opponent to a playground wuss in a years time. I guess that grinding / dirty playing style wears you down after a while.

Speaking of mind boggling CanFan Care to comment on this?

Maybe trade him to Buffalo for McDavid?

I'm not sure McDavid is the pick. Eichel is more ready for NHL McDavid is the longer term guy possibly.

Kess knows Leafs are taking it down to the studs, he also knows a proper rebuild necessitates getting rid of his contract, him and Phaneuf have to go, they will be traded for draft picks this summer before or at the draft. Phil has been a soldier not a commander but he's only a year removed from a great year...I make the trade for McDavid all day every day, no way in hell Buffalo does though jmho

I don't believe this for a second, they said the same thing about NatMac...I've heard you repeat this now a couple of times...have you been able to watch them outside the WJC? Everything I've seen says MCD is ready now...

I watch him play his OHL games. I think McDavid is a great scorer but I think Eichel is more mature physically right now.

You can not go wrong with either though.

McDavid being hurt and still leading the OHL in scoring shows how skilled he is. But do you want him now or a year from now?

If a Canadian team gets the first pick, it's McDavid. But if Buffalo gets it, there's a discussion.

It's been posted before, but that Dupuis' essay in the Players Tribune is really worth the read. It's really quite an introspective look, and seemingly quite honest about how he realizes he doesn't have much time left, how the reemergence of the blood clots were life threatening, and yet he tried playing through it.

In My Blood

Now keep in mind that before the clot issue came back sorta mid season, he was hit in a vulnerable part of the spine by a shot and had to be stretchered off the ice, and that didn't even make it into the article. I was in the arena that night and it was pretty scary watching his immediate reaction and fear when he shook off his gloves, and the reaction of the teammates as well.

Yeah I posted it back when it was published, great read.

Absolutely love me some Pascal Dupuis, so hearing he's going to be able to return next year is awesome.

In important news, Senators were down 2-1 end of 2nd vs San Jose, win 5-2. Ottawa takes over the 8 seed and Boston is currently out of the playoffs!
