I love how there is hockey every night on TV after the all star break.
Now if we could just have hockey on TV every night during the first half of the season, then I would be happy

quote:Biggest game of the year thus far for the Stars. These two teams have to get out of each other's way before either can make a run.
Stars / Avalanche: Fate of both teams is fading fast. Every game matters for these two.
Classic opportunity for Kari to shite the bed.

Big win for the Caps. Played like crap for two weeks, yet still within 3 of the Metro lead (though they've played an extra game). Desperately needed a win, and got one by adding Johannson to the top line. And this is what it looked like:
That's just unfair. Holtby hasn't allowed a goal in regulation over the past three games as well. Need to start turning that into points. The Metro race looks like it's going to be a long four-way ride. Please, oh God, do not let the Caps end up playing the Rangers in the 1st round. Anyone but the Rags.

Chicago looks horrible tonight. Minnesota though may finally be at full strength

Ya know, everytime I see we give up 3 goals in a period I just assume Tokarski's in goal.
I guess I should know better by now

Avalanche score tying goal with 19 seconds left in Dallas.
Edit: 2-2. Dallas dominated the game and the tying goal was only the Avs 16th SOG in regulation.

I like how the NHL app sends my phone an alert that Buffalo stopped their 14 game franchise record losing streak...had to double take who it was over.

Rinne should be back soon

Avs beat Stars in an 11 round shootout.

Knew they would. Too much riding on this game to execute cleanly when it matters.
Part of me hopes Stars miss the playoffs and get rid of Ruff. For a guy who built his reputation of defensive hockey, the Stars are absolutely abysmal in their own zone.

Kari balled out in the shoot out. hope this isn't the game that sends the season completely off the rails but it has that feeling

Look who their blueliners are. They only have two D-men over age 27, and one of them is frickin' horrible (I hate Goligoski a whole lot, Trevor Daley is solid but unremarkable) They are just playing a whole bunch of kids out there and hoping it comes together. That's not on the coaching staff. Ruff's done a good job with the pieces he's been given.
But this was a big choke. Giving up a sure point, and against the Avs.

They opted for this group. This team traded away Brenden Dillon and Sergei Gonchar early and chose to go with the young group. Those two were also having unremarkable seasons. I'm sure Ruff had a say in those transactions. He couldn't put it together with vets, and can't put it together with rookies.
Klingberg is a stud in the making, but the rest of the group is run of the mill at best.
Choking away games late has become a common theme for this team. And this team has still yet to score in 4-on-4 hockey this season, which is odds-wise almost impossible.
Ruff's best days are behind him. I'd rather not wait for the ship to catch fire and sink over the next few years before the team removes him.

Article on TSN in the TradeCentre section that Phanuef and Kessel can be had.
I would give my left or right gonard for Phanuef to be a Hab. Pair him with Pernell and put Markov with Gonchar. He would also be able to cure the PP.
I know the Habs and Leafs will never make a deal as they would want everyone plus the keys to CentreBell. My goodness if that could happen and for a reasonable price, I wish it would.

But for what? Saw Kessel last night in person. He always seems to find the right spot but man he is out of shape. John Kruk of hockey. Phaneuf is a good assist man I'll give you that.
Would feel super dirty with a Habs / Leafs trade.

I'd dump Markov or Beaulieu and draft picks for Phaneuf.
But Lawd would our cap be hurting next year

There is no way I would trade Markov. You need Defensemen. I would trade Maxi before Markov. If I was making the deal it would be this.
Pacioretty
Plekanec
Dietz (Hamilton)
3 this year
Bring up Drewskie...
If they insist on Drewskie then tell them to go jump in Lake Ontario and enjoy finishing last in the NHL.
If the Phaneuf deal can get worked like I stated then try to go get Heatley to replace Maxi.

Max is the heart of the team man. Him and Pernell and CP31
We can't dump him.
