Crawford was the best….

Buddy of mine would cut game film for the refs to review at halftime and after the game at Heat games for a few years.

He said Crawford was one of the nicest guys he’s ever met in his life. Genuinely cared about people and would shoot the shite with him for an hour after the game sometimes.

The bold move would be to publically boycott games with that ref.

Bump

The ref VanVleet was going in on has been demoted.

Fred VanVleet was fined $30,000 for his outburst during the postgame press conference. However, Ben Taylor has also faced repercussions. During an appearance on Sportsnet 590 The FAN, Meadowlark Media's Tom Haberstrow claimed that the NBA has demoted Taylor in the assignments that he has received since VanVleet's public rant.

Ref Ben Taylor hasnt been a crew chief since the FVV rant and he also hasnt reffed many games since

Officials across all sports are clearly not held accountable in any meaningful way, the current system is not working. Maybe public humiliation will.

So maybe it actually did work?

Honestly shocked the nba is potentially opening the floodgates here by not keeping Taylor on his normal assignments to avoid the perception that the rant was effective.

It’s also pathetic and stupid that it took that happening for something to finally be done.

It really is something to be looked into. If a guy has 15 techs on the year and one ref has given him 12 of them, that’s a problem. And it’s damn sure not a coincidence.

Refs get off way too easily in all sports. They get to hide in their locker rooms after games and not have to answer media questions about performance like players and coaches do. So this guy got demoted. Alright, now what? I'm sure he still gets paid the same and he's not in any real danger of losing his job.

You mean so when someone finally decides to track it they DO see that refs are clearly disciplined

You can pull up every ref in the league career resume and see how many playoff games and finals games they have called.

there are new refs coming into the league every year. That tells us there are refs leaving the league every year. Just bc you don’t hear about it doesn’t mean the ones who grade out the worst aren’t being replaced.

It's usually the crew chief that don't get removed to be fair. That's who sets the tone
