I always try not to put too much stock into Mercedes' pace in practice but always have a glimmer of hope that they really are struggling a bit.

It’s about the driver as much as the car. Good drivers are fast and win races. The great ones transform team culture, participate in design iterations and help build the car that’s fastest for their style to complement their talent. They’re more than just drivers. The Schumachers and Hamiltons are in that category even as neither is/was very likeable. Absolutely agree another driver could step in and go fast in a Mercedes but to sustain and iterate that over 7 or 8 years is very hard.

The Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for October, was just canceled.

Racer Magazine thinks they may shuffle the schedule and have two US GPs at COTA. So it would be like Austria, race two weekends in a row.
Other speculation includes China and Turkey.

Mercs 11/16 in FP2...

I doubt they’re that slow all of a sudden. Probably testing various setups.

Instead of possibly two races at COTA, I wonder if they would try to put one of them at Indy, especially with Brawn's comments the other day.

Lewis was complaining during practice that he didn't know where the speed was. I think they will qualify better than practice but to pretend running so slow in practice is normal is very wrong

Only one Mercedes powered car in the top 10 (Lando). I feel like LeClerc sort of messed up almost every teams qualy sims though.
The tow is so powerful there, tomorrow qualifying is going to be a cluster.

That straight will be the factor all weekend. Merc can probably start 7th and still blow past anything sitting in front.

Correction. Hamilton can start 7th and blow past. Bottas struggles when he's in the midfield.

After AT's practice performance, and Gasly's FP3 performance in particular, there's no excuse for Tsunoda to not make it to Q3.

Looks like Max got his car fixed.
