I hope they let the race and championship stand just because it would be such a black eye on the sport, but Massi clearly augmented the regulations in the final 2 laps of the championship deciding race.

Right call. They can’t change it now. Max won it on the track. Let FIA deal with this black eye and let Toto and merc plow them into making sure this doesn’t happen again.

I guess we can put to bed that the FIA are rigging everything for Merc. They very clearly went against their own regs to set up the only possible way for max to have a chance to win.
They really should change the rule that there is no SC lapping with 3 laps or less left to race. Should be an auto red flag and go to a standing start to better ensure a green finish.

But they do say that any lapped cars must overtake the SC and get on the lead lap, not just the ones between 1st and 2nd place

He's wrong. The rules DO say that the SC is to do another lap after allowing lapped cars to pass it.
If Massi wasn't an idiot he would have red flagged the race as soon as latifi crashed. They went with the SC and then realized quickly that they fricked up and were going to finish the championship under the SC. So they hastily rewrote the rules to give it a green finish.
