Hopefully the result is Masi being removed.

We need someone who is actually respected by the teams and makes quick, consistent decisions. Masi is none of those.

The sport has become over regulated, at some point you have to let them race, they raced, it is over.

I think the sport is the best it’s ever been. The fact that there’s a 400 page thread on tigerdroppings shows you how far they’ve come. The regulations add to the drama and conflict which I think makes things more interesting.

I just caught up on SkySports after show and this thread.

Since most points have been covered I saw one post here... watching live I thought the race should have been red flagged. Not only that but Id think FIA/Race director room would have what-if options already lined up... if car crashes less than 10 to go and is on track we go option A... if crashes and off track option B and so on.

Back to something Masi said, clearing the incident. Everyone knew this race would need the best marshalling and clearing of the season. I would have hoped they could clear the incident quicker. You could see the marshalls fumbling around when Gio retired, then when Latifi crashed, they were fumbling around there too. Its concerning when the person holding a fire extinguisher cant figure out how to pull the pin. At one point it was like they didnt know which way to go to enter the track. Im sure they had to hire temps to bring in for big race.

Id like to see better (trained) marshalling. However I still think there should have been a red flag.

Loved the "it's a motor race" response.

I was laying down, but only because I had to get stitches in my right arse cheek yesterday from a cycling accident.

A stitch in time will save you nine.

A stitch in the arse 'cause you fell on some glass.

FIA in tough spot. Legal battle with Merc vs overturning a result and probably losing a ton of new fans forever.

I agree to some extent, but my point is at some point racing is still racing... but agree in general.

That is the problem. By the books Merc appear to have legitimate grounds. The rules were not followed.

Bad for viewership if it gets overturned, but somewhere like the CAS doesn't care about viewship.

I haven’t had time or a clear enough head to come up with a better story yet but it’s basically true.

With you on this. In the final race of the season under ten laps and you send out the safety car and don't red flag? Red flag would have benefitted Hamilton. He had position, he would have pitted and received fresh tires, and he had the faster car.

The question is (and someone may have the answer): was Toto promoting the safety car stay on the track or was he promoting a red flag? If he wanted the race to end under a safety, then frick him.

He had 2 chances to pit, the red flag only bails out their strategy call.
